WandaVision finished its single-season run on Disney Plus months ago, but Marvel's perfectionism can also backfire in the editing room.

WandaVision had the daunting task of being the MCU’s first foray into the streaming territory and it’s safe to say Wanda Maximoff’s emotional journey delivered for Disney Plus. However, it turns out even the talented special effects wizards hired by Marvel Studios can make some mistakes every now and then, as one keen-eyed fan happen to notice.

Although WandaVision went on to be surpassed by The Falcon and the Winter Soldier in terms of ratings and Loki might do the same from its Wednesday slot, the former’s sitcom-style scripting was not short of expensive VFX magic thanks to the show’s massive $200m budget. However, that’s no reason for Marvel Studios not to go back and do a little tinkering with the show’s final form, even if it’s not necessarily for the best.

Usually, Marvel tends to edit footage from its movies to add commemorative bits like the one done for Chadwick Boseman in Black Panther. However, in this case, Reddit user Cinephone points out the VFX team behind WandaVision left a little something behind while doing some embellishment work on the series post-credits scene. That sequence basically shows the Scarlet Witch brushing up on her Darkhold knowledge in some remote mountain location, now spruced up with more trees and what is definitely not a ghost.

The video features a brief explainer from a Tik Tok user who notes that not only are there more trees, but there is also a missing duck compared to when the WandaVision finale premiered. However, the new mysterious transparent smudge is not Mephisto or any other Marvel easter eggs, instead, it appears to be a leftover effect from editing out some glare in the shot where Wanda is first seen a few seconds later.

Although this is a completely harmless error, it serves as a nice reminder that even at the highest levels of any field, these pros often go back on their previous work to improve it. Even more so, it shows that talented VFX artists are also human beings who can make mistakes, just the same way people on set leave coffee cups lying around on medieval sets.

Regardless of that, Disney Plus has definitely struck gold with its growing stock of MCU shows, as Loki is off to a similarly magic start that foreshadows the series' second half could get even better by offering a radically different experience to ensure everyone can pick a favorite. Maybe Loki will get some mischievous editing in a couple of months too.
