The attraction will be focused specifically around the first season of the show, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no YaibaUniversal Studios Japan teases that park-goers will be able to come face-to-face with main character Tanjiro Kamado's expert swordsmanship and even breath in an incredible experience. Fierce and incredible battles with the demon slayers will unfold before the very eyes of the viewers. Fans can anticipate themed rides, food, merchandise, and more. The limited attraction is expected to run until February 13th, 2022, though the holding period is subject to change.

Universal Studios Japan has been closed due to pandemic procedures, only opening on the weekends in late June. The park is expected to open up for more days in the coming months and increase the current 5,000 person cap, a limitation designed to protect visitors and lower the chances of the COVID-19 virus spreading. The Demon Slayer attraction will be a part of Universal's "Cool Japan" events. Other past anime attractions at the park have surrounded Attack on Titan, Sailor Moon, and Neon Genesis Evangelion.

For anime fans unfamiliar with the series, Demon Slayer began as a manga that ran throughout the 2000s. After getting an animated show in 2016, the series skyrocketed. The story surrounds a young boy named Tanjiro who trains to become a fearsome and powerful slayer after a demon brutally murdered his family. Tanjiro is joined by friends and warriors to defeat every demon, villain, and threat they come across.

With the franchise garnering everything from merchandise, a video game, and even a Demon Slayer-themed coffee, an entertainment park addition only seems natural for the series. With a season 2 for the show already confirmed, the franchise is quickly becoming a fan favorite and a must-watch anime series. More information and teasers are anticipated in the coming months, including a special announcement from cast members on Twitter on July 1st.
