World of Warcraft's Great Vault is Bugged, But a Fix is Coming

A new World of Warcraft bug is causing problems for players collecting their Great Vault loot, but Blizzard is currently working on a fix.

A new bug has appeared in World of Warcraft that has started making a fan-favorite loot pool less effective for players who would have otherwise earned high-level and rare gear. Specifically, this is related to Shadowlands' Great Vault, a new addition from the most recent expansion that would ordinarily give players a chance at powerful loot at regular intervals.

For those unfamiliar with the new loot pool, the Great Vault is a location in World of Warcraft that can be visited once a week in order to pick up powerful loot from a choice of gear options. However, the current issue has unfortunately made the loot drop at a lower level than intended, but developer Blizzard has addressed this bug and is currently working on a fix.

The specific issue that players are currently running into is that when completing tasks and activities that should set the Great Vault to reward the highest level gear, the items available are registering slightly lower than expected. This means that the cumulative value of completing daily and weekly tasks, or jumping into World of Warcraft's dungeons has diminished slightly until the issue is fixed. Fortunately for players worried about missing out on more high-level gear, Blizzard has specifically commented on this issue and has suggestions for how to proceed until the bug is resolved.

According to Community Manager Kaivax, Blizzard is fully aware of this Great Vault bug and while the developer hasn't been able to squash the issue yet, it is a top priority. For now, players are advised to not pick up their rewards from the Great Vault until the issue has been resolved and Blizzard releases a new World of Warcraft patch to restore the loot pools. There's, unfortunately, no news on when the fix will be coming or if extra rewards will be given in the event that the issue persists beyond the next weekly reset.

As far as major issues go, this is the type that could be frustrating for plenty of players but isn't quite game-breaking enough to cause anyone to put the game aside until it's resolved. Still, it can certainly be a mood killer to complete the necessary activities for some powerful gear, only to find that a surefire reword like the Great Vault isn't paying out correctly. Of course, Blizzard's track record for taking care of this type of World of Warcraft bug should assure players that the issue will be dealt with soon, especially with it taking top priority for the moment.

World of Warcraft is available now for PC.
