With Resident Evil Village DLC confirmed to be in development, fans naturally have a lot of expectations, especially when the subject is obvious.

Capcom's latest iteration of the genre-defining Resident Evil series, Resident Evil Village, is considered by many fans to be one of the best in the series. Coupling that with great critical and commercial reception, Resident Evil Village is shaping up to be a strong contender for one of this year's best games.

The developers recently confirmed that Resident Evil Village would be receiving post-launch DLC during Capcom's E3 2021 presentation, which has fans excited for what's to come. While it could definitely turn out otherwise, there's a great chance that fans might just be getting more of Lady Dimitrescu with the game.

Ever since the game's first reveal trailer last year, Countess Alcina Dimitrescu became the poster child for the game, owing to her gargantuan height and incredible character design. A lot of pre-launch hype was based around her role within the game, but many fans came out disappointed after finding out about her relatively insignificant role within Resident Evil Village.

That's not to say that the character is bad by any means, far from it. Lady Dimitrescu is one of the more well-realized villains in the Resident Evil franchise, ripe with an engaging backstory and character arcs that run parallel with the game's story. There's still a lot left within the character to be shown and a few gaps to be filled, which could be the perfect backdrop to future DLC.

Her origins date back to World War 1, and why she left her home to return to the village castle remains a mystery to this date. Future DLC has a great chance to answer these questions that have perplexed fans for long, albeit in a sequence similar to Chris Redfield's mission at the end of the game.

Prior to release, Resident Evil Village received a Maiden demo where players assumed the role of a woman working in Castle Dimitrescu. While an incredibly short demo lasting a few minutes, it contains a bunch of notes written by other maidens of the castle which serve as eye-openers for the various horrors within. A maiden seemingly opened a castle window by order by her mistress, following which she was immediately shouted at since the daughters can't survive at lower temperatures. There's also an incident where the youngest mistress slashed a knife at a mistress, and many were sent down to the castle dungeon for producing the Sanguis Virginis from their blood.

All of these incidents were mentioned as notes within the pre-launch demo, and witnessing these horrors play out from the perspective of a maiden is intriguing and ripe for some Resident Evil 7-esque survival horror. It could even play out as a backstory to what was seen in the Maiden demo, all the while giving more screen time to the titular vampire lady. It's still very early to speculate what could be, as a lot of other fan theories and dangling narrative threads could be explored instead.

Resident Evil Village is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
