The future of Resident Evil seems bright, with multiple Resident Evil games rumored to be coming in the next couple of years.

The Resident Evil franchise has grown significantly since it first debuted 25 years ago. Resident Evil Village is the most confident Resident Evil has ever been and is an accumulation of everything the series is known for. Fortunately, Capcom has no intention of stopping there as the Japanese giant has already hinted at making Resident Evil an annual franchise.

However, details are pretty scarce about what comes next. Aside from the Resident Evil Village DLC and the multiplayer expansion Re:Verse, Capcom has yet to reveal the next big Resident Evil game. Interestingly, the recent Capcom leak shed some light on some of the unconfirmed Resident Evil games in development. Here's every single one of them.

Capcom announced during its E3 2021 showcase that it is working on a Resident Evil Village DLC. While no concrete details were revealed, there are plenty of cut content and unexplored possibilities from RE Village that the DLC could explore. The asymmetrical multiplayer counterpart of Resident Evil Village, Re:Verse was supposed to launch alongside the main game but was delayed due to the plethora of game-breaking bugs found in its most recent public beta test. Capcom has since then announced that Re:Verse will launch sometime in July. RE Village players will get the game for free.

Capcom's data breach from last year revealed several Resident Evil games that are currently in development. One that's intended to release after Resident Evil Village is something called Resident Evil Outbreak. Aside from a Q4 2021 release window, nothing else was included in the leak. Although Resident Evil Outbreak was a no-show at E3 2021, multiple industry insiders have revealed promising details about the game, which makes this leak all the more legitimate. The notable Resident Evil insider Dusk Golem was the first to go into details. According to him, Resident Evil Outbreak is Resident Evil Revelations 3, featuring a returning Rebecca Chambers as the main protagonist, and could be a timed Nintendo Switch exclusive.

Perhaps the most important of the leaked Resident Evil games is the Resident Evil 4 Remake. Rumors about a full-blown remake of the 2005's cult classic surfaced way before the Capcom breach, though the leak further solidified its existence. It seems Capcom and M-Two have collaborated to work on this long demanded remake whose development reportedly started in 2018. No additional details aside from a Q4 2022 release exists, though this could very likely be pushed to 2023, given the ongoing pandemic and the rumors about the game's development being rebooted.

Biohazard Apocalypse is the next Resident Evil game in line, according to the leaked report, and is scheduled to release in Q3 2023. Biohazard is the Japanese name for the Resident Evil series, so it could be that this title is exclusive to Japan. The chances of that happening is pretty slim as Resident Evil has garnished a massive global audience in the last two decades. Resident Evil Village became the fastest-selling game in the franchise, and it's unlikely for Capcom to hinder its own momentum by making Biohazard Apocalypse exclusive to Japan. Either way, fans will have to wait until Capcom is ready to reveal more on the supposed Biohazard Apocalypse.

Resident Evil Hank is the last of the leaked Resident Evil games that surfaced though it won't be seeing daylight until Q4 2024. It could very well be referring to Hunk, the enigmatic mercenary that first appeared in Resident Evil 2. The alleged Resident Evil Hank could finally explore this mysterious yet popular RE character, though it will be a while before fans get any sort of info on this project.
