This was a big week for fans of Destiny 2, as Bungie laid out a ton of information for upcoming content and changes. The big reveal this week was for the annual Solstice of Heroes event, which kicks off in full next week at reset. The European Aerial Zone makes its triumphant return once more with it's familiar boss rush mechanic. This year, players will have new Solstice armor sets and glows to unlock, a legendary Compass Rose Shotgun as well as all new cosmetic rewards from the Eververse Store for those who want to drop a bit of cash or bright dust.
The sandbox environment is also going to getting a major change next week thanks to the addition of new Timelost Weapons as rewards for completing Master Raids as well as various weapon tweaks which were originally going to be held back until Season 15. Shotguns and 120 RPM Hand Cannons are all getting some nerfs, though Bungie is tweaking most special weapons in some capacity. Bungie also announced major changes to Anarchy, the go to PvE grenade launcher exotic, in order to make it great at a few roles instead of being great at everything.

Even with plenty of weapon changes on the horizon, Xur has returned to the world of Destiny 2 with new exotic wares for the next few days. Follow this guide for his most current weekend location, news on his exotic cypher quest, as well as a review of what he's currently selling for the weekend of July 2, 2021.
This weekend, Xur is back in the Tower Hangar.
After loading into The Tower, head left and follow the path into the hangar. Stay on the ground level, run left past Jalaal's Dead Orbit area, and find a set of starts towards the back where Xur can be found overlooking the mountains from a platform.
While Xur's role is essentially the same as it was prior to the Beyond Light expansion, the exotic merchant also has weekly quests that players can acquire to unlock an exotic cypher. Not only are these required to purchase a second fated engram, but they're necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the new kiosk. Players can earn a new cypher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clanmates or finishing more challenging activities.
Other than that, here are Xur's three gear pieces this weekend:
Chromatic Fire - Warlock chest armor
The unique looking Warlock exotic has remained relatively untouched as of late, avoiding the sandbox changes Bungie made to many exotics are the start of the Season of the Worthy. For those who somehow don't have it yet, it's worth getting for situations where players are up against lots of enemies.
Its perk, Crystalline Transistor, causes an explosion, in the element of the player’s equipped subclass, after a kinetic precision kill. Having lots of enemies in a tight spot really maximizes the elemental damage. For PvP players, other guardians have mentioned that this armor is good when using particular weapons that cause explosions like Ace of Spades. One thing to keep in mind that it currently does not work with Stasis subclasses, so players will need to use the classic trio to maximize the benefits of this gear. The stat roll this week is pretty solid overall, so it may be worth a look.
Void Enhanced. Stat Values:
- Mobility +2
- Resilience +12
- Recovery +17
- Discipline +19
- Intellect +10
- Strength +2
Knucklehead Radar - Hunter helmet
Hunters gets the Knucklehead Radar helmet this week, which really lends itself to PvP modes in the Crucible. Upgraded Sensor Pack is the intrinsic perk which enhances the player’s radar when crouched and keeps it on the screen when aiming down the sights.
Useful is the best term to describe this exotic as it's not the best option out there for Hunters, but it can be valuable in the right situations. Knowing where enemies are coming from even when aiming down the sights can come in handy inside of the Crucible, though there are better options overall. Adding to the problem is the fact that the stat distribution this week isn't great.
Void Enhanced. Stat Values:
- Mobility +18
- Resilience +13
- Recovery +2
- Discipline +9
- Intellect +13
- Strength +7
Antaeus Wards - Titan leg armor
The Antaeus Wards are all about mobility that pairs with an interesting, albeit somewhat tricky mechanic. The intrinsic perk Reflective Vents improves the player’s slide while also reflects incoming projectiles during the slide, though it was nerfed last year to remove the super energy gain on reflection.
The ability may require a slight adjustment period to get the timing down, but once the mechanic is figured out, these boots become extremely valuable. Not only can players reflect bullets, but they are also capable of reflecting supers like Blade Barrage and Nova Bomb. While these used to be a must have item prior to the nerf, they're no longer in that category. However, these boots can be worn with any Titan subclass which makes them extremely versatile as well. Titan's also get the highest stat roll this week
Void Enhanced. Stat Values:
- Mobility +19
- Resilience +2
- Recovery +13
- Discipline +2
- Intellect +19
- Strength +10
Players looking for a weapon that can absolutely shred enemies should look no further than the original Destiny 2 rampage gun, Huckleberry. This exotic SMG is a primary slot weapon capable of dealing large amounts of damage very quickly thanks to its intrinsic perk Ride the Bull. While the trigger is held down, the weapon gains an increased rate of fire and recoil. In addition, any kills with the weapon will reload a portion of the magazine as well. The weapon also comes with rampage, which gives it increased damage (holding up to 3 stacks) after a kill, and Ricochet Rounds which causes bullets to bounce and redirect off hard surfaces.
Naturally, this is a great weapon for clearing out large groups of enemies, which means it truly shines in PvE activities. It can be a chaotic especially as it gets going but once players grab the catalyst from completing Strikes, Crucible rounds, or Gambit matches, the gun becomes even better. For those who don't have it, this is absolutely worth a pickup this week.
