Cyberpunk 2077 fans share comparisons between the game's demo at E3 in 2018 with the final game, noticing that a lot of content has been cut.

Alongside a cinematic CGI trailer, Cyberpunk 2077 was given a nearly fifty-minute gameplay demonstration at E3 in 2018. The gameplay demo invited fans to have a thorough look at what they may associate now with the beginning of Cyberpunk 2077. Lately, fans are nostalgic for the game that they were anticipating when its marketing began.

Cyberpunk 2077's many update patches have been attempting to repair the glaring bugs and glitches that the game has had since launch. CD Projekt Red is apparently satisfied with the game in its current condition, but some fans have been inspecting Cyberpunk 2077 retrospectively to reminisce on the changes that have been made.

User LnA_toB has taken their nostalgic look back at the development for Cyberpunk 2077, contrasting the interesting differences between the 2018 gameplay demo and final game product. The fan adds footnotes from the gameplay demo, identifying changes that they believe have negatively impacted the final game. For example, LnA_toB shows that a vehicle's windshield HUD had been removed. Many fans appear to be more disappointed with Cyberpunk 2077 omitting a dedicated vehicular combat system, which would have let players fire from a vehicle while it was on autopilot.

A number of differences between the early demo and the final game also appear to affect what missions players are able to take on during Cyberpunk 2077's prologue. Another fan, who goes by the username Swiperrr, suggests that the game's opening prologues were perhaps longer than in the final game. If this were true, and CD Projekt Red had plans to make the prologues much more expansive, it appears as though many of those ideas were cut from the 2018 demo.

Interestingly, a choice for players to grab a Corporate Bodyguard's handgun was removed from the final game. But fans have speculated that doing so may only result in the player's death, and therefore the choice would only be fitting of a gimmick that fans could experiment with.

LnA_toB has also spotted that NPCs were able to use elevators in the 2018 demo of the game, which would have perhaps added to Cyberpunk 2077's immersion. However, fans interpret that if NPCs were able to use elevators, it may take much longer for elevators to arrive when the player wanted to use them. With how frequently NPCs have glitched and caused issues within Cyberpunk 2077, it seems plausible that NPCs entering and exiting elevators may have caused similar issues.

Of course, it is important to note that many demos for games only represent a portion of what the final game will ultimately portray. Demos may exist purposely as an individual build of the game, with the particular intention of sharing polished footage for marketing purposes. Perhaps this was what had taken place with Cyberpunk 2077's gameplay demo. However, the final product was unable to reach a satisfactory quality for fans upon launch.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions scheduled to release in 2021.
