Sea of Thieves players looking to complete the Strike Yer Colours Commendation will need to go against the notorious Captain Barbossa himself.

It's only been a couple of weeks since Sea of Thieves and Pirates of the Caribbean finally crossed over, giving pirate players a new epic story narrative to traverse. Davy Jones has arrived, threatening the world of Sea of Thieves and forcing players into action. Of course, the deadly pirate didn't foresee Captain Jack Sparrow being recruited as an aid.

In going against Davy Jones in A Pirate's Life, players are given a series of Tall Tales to complete. It's best to knock these out ASAP as they not only give players commendations, completing all of them unlocks a special Pirates of the Caribbean secret. In the case of the Tall Tale 'Captains of the Damned', there's one called the Strike Yer Colours commendation. This guide goes into the details, though Sea of Thieves players should beware - this commendation pits players against the notorious Captain Barbossa himself.

Before getting started on the Strike Yer Colours commendation in the Captain of the Damned Tall Tale, Sea of Thieves players will need to have the previous Tall Tales completed. Players should be alert once arriving at Isla Tesoro. It'll be under siege from the Wicked Wench under the lead of Captain Barbossa. The good thing is that he'll be less focused on the players' arrival and more focused on finding Jack Sparrow, leaving him open for a counterattack.

Upon reaching the dock, players should take the left path, heading up some stone stairs to reach the top of the town walls. Turning the corner, players will notice a group of phantom skeletons firing back at the approaching ships. A cannonball barrel and a cannon will be stationed between two of the skeletons, leaving players a spot to return fire from. Once players are locked and loaded, they'll be free to fire away at the ships in the distance.

Hitting a ship with a single cannonball shot will complete the Strike Yer Colours commendation, though players shouldn't be worried if it doesn't complete on the first hit. If the commendation doesn't unlock, players should experiment with shooting other ships. Worst case scenario, they'll need to reload from the previous checkpoint. To add, players trying to complete this commendation at any point before this Tall Tale are out of luck. Sea of Thieves players can only return fire on Captain Barbossa's ships, as shooting any ghost ships before this section won't complete the commendation.

Sea of Thieves is available on Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
