Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption 2 has been heralded as one of the best video games of all time, ranking 13th on the list of top sellers and winning many accolades, as well as the adoration of fans and critics alike. Aside from the game's character-driven story and morally ambiguous decision making, Red Dead Redemption 2 boasts an expansive and detailed world, with a huge amount of questing available. This huge world is perhaps what makes the feat of earning 100% completion in Rockstar's Western shooter so impressive, a feat that one redditor's 69-year-old dad has recently managed.
The map in Red Dead Redemption 2 is truly massive, with some estimations putting it at around 29 square miles, and others noting that it is approximately double the size of Grand Theft Auto 5's Los Santos. Not only is Red Dead Redemption 2's map huge in scale, it is also dense with content, with roughly 109 missions available in the game when including story and honor missions. Taking all of this into account, as well as a number of other boxes that need to be ticked in order to get 100% completion in the game, it is certainly a lengthy process for any player attempting to tackle the challenge.

Reddit user kleverone's dad didn't seem too bothered by the lengthy task though, his son saying that after he purchased the game for his father it became the only thing he played. Kleverone posted a screenshot of his 69-year-old dad's achievement to reddit, stating "My Dad finally did it! 69 years old and got 100% completion today." In order to 100% Red Dead Redemption 2, Kleverone's dad needed to complete a series of missions (including all of the main story quests,) as well as find a number of collectibles, max out his character's abilities, complete a large portion of the in-game compendium, and finish several miscellaneous tasks throughout the game.
This isn't the first time the 69-year-old has featured on reddit, Kleverone had previously posted a video of his dad receiving a Cameo message from Roger Clark, the voice actor for Red Dead Redemption 2's Arthur Morgan. The birthday message brought a smile to his dad's face when he finally realized who was delivering the message and revealed that he was already on his third playthrough of the game at the time. To finally manage the monumental task of 100% completion was likely a huge accomplishment, especially for someone who seems to love Red Dead 2 as much as he does.
It's always a wonderful thing to see older generations partaking in gaming, it is certainly an medium that might have passed a lot of people by if they weren't around for its early years, and to miss out on some of amazing narratives of modern games would certainly be a shame. Red Dead Redemption 2's strongest feature may be its story, and with so much to explore and accomplish in its rich game world, 100% completion can be a worthwhile endeavor.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
