Scarlett Johansson is renowned for her acting talent and beauty but it seems she has a Black Widow doppelganger from Russia of all places.

Black Widow is finally getting her own solo feature film this week as Natasha Romanoff takes a trip to the past to explore her origins in the MCU. With that in mind, it’s no surprise to see cosplayers do their best Black Widow efforts yet one particular model has the considerable advantage of looking exactly like Scarlett Johansson.

Although the Black Widow movie took years before it got into its development stage and almost just as long before Disney settled what to do regarding its release after so many pandemics enforced delays, she will be the one bringing back the MCU to theaters as Marvel Studios reminded fans using Stan Lee’s words. On the face of it, Black Widow remains one of the few Avengers without a true origin story so at the very least it’ll provide something new.

When it comes to cosplay there are really few women as up to the task of dressing up in Black Widow attire as Russian cosplayer Sawaka, who not only shares nationality with Natasha Romanoff but perhaps even some genetic background with the actor who plays her. In this case, Sawaka goes for Natasha's look in the first Avengers and Age of Ultron, featuring shorter red hair and her classic black jumpsuit.

It really takes more than a few looks to realize that this isn’t the same woman that brought Natasha Romanoff to life on the big screen and that sadly fans will miss from now on after her sacrifice in Endgame, so it’s always good to remind ourselves that Black Widow will in all likeliness be Johansson’s last MCU appearance.

In the end, Black Widow could the perfect swansong for a character that Scarlett Johansson felt was overly sexualized in Iron Man 2, however, even though that course was corrected it also does raise the question if it’s still a case of too little too late for the first female Avenger. The Black Widow movie still carries sky-high expectations for a story that still feels a bit like a Phase One or Two entry that somehow got pushed almost a decade.

Early reviews for Black Widow have been mixed with some critics calling the movie an accomplished spy movie, while others consider the story is severely lacking and feels somewhat forced into the MCU. They do coincide in calling for more Florence Pugh and David Harbour in the MCU, a request Marvel will have no problem granting in the future.

Black Widow will premiere in theaters and on Disney Plus Premier Access on July 8, 2021.
