Season 9 in Apex Legends is almost over, and season 10 will be here in about a month's time. With the addition of a new weapon category, the meta shift with Valkyrie and a buffed Revenant, and more, it seems safe to say that it's been a good, if sometimes dramatic, season. Now, season 10 will have to follow that, and at least one way it will do so is with a new Apex Legends character.
Truth be told, it could be anyone. Respawn has proven itself capable of keeping secrets and misleading dataminers, with the Forge/Revenant debacle being a prime example. However, if recent rumors, leaks, and datamines regarding Apex Legends season 10 are to be believed, the next legend to join the games will be known as Seer, or Pariah.

As aforementioned, keeping new characters hidden as much as possible is a Respawn specialty. Everyone thought it would be Forge joining the games, but it turned out to be Revenant. Valk was short for Valkyrie, and it seems safe to say that Rampart came out of the blue—at least in comparison to what rumors and leaks said of the character. As such, anything regarding the identity of the season 10 character should be taken with a grain of salt, but the leading theory is the character will join the games as Seer, though files have previously pointed to the character being known as Pariah.
Pariah could have always be a code name, like Valk, or it could have been changed for something less dark. Either way, the two are being treated as synonymous by many now. In terms of what is known of them as a character, many believe that the moth symbol (seen above) that appeared in the Season 9 arenas trailer is that of Seer. This, alongside some leaked Apex Legends voice lines, has lead many to believe that Seer is either made of moths or has a heavy moth inspiration in design.
Seer doesn't seem to be popular among the other legends, being more akin to Revenant's reception when he first arrived. Crypto thinks he spends too much time in the shadows, Caustic calls him a coward for utilizing "subterfuge and misdirection," Wattson says his mother was a moon and his father a moth, Pathfinder refers to him as a swarm, and more. At the very least, it seems Seer wants the others to be afraid of him, or think that he's a collection of moths. From their voice lines, it can be deduced that Seer is unliked, related to moths, and male, but a in-game skin description also suggests that he will be African.
Two of them are mostly non-descript, that being "Weapon X" and "Performer," but one skin is described as Afrofuturism, a modernist style of African dress and cultured mixed with highly-advanced technology. For now, that's all fans have to go on in terms of who Seer is, but if the Pariah connection is legit, then players may already be able to deduce his abilities.

Again, it's worth mentioning that the connection between Seer and Pariah is a leading theory, but not necessarily accurate. For example, while Caustic indicates Seer meddles with subterfuge and misdirection, Pariah's abilities are the ones being shared. However, Pariah's abilities don't really seem to correlate there, and it's even worth mentioning that none of them have a particularly "Moth" flavor to them. Based on Pariah leaks, Seer's abilities could be...
- Aplomb Training Passive - Allows Pariah to see enemy health bars and be immune to SDM steam, stun effects.
- Sonar Grenade Tactical - 15 second sonar that reveals enemies in an AoE
- Sacrificial Romantic Ultimate - Activates a "SDM" device that releases steam in all directions but makes Pariah unable to move. The damage burns health and bypasses shields.
While the Passive could perhaps be explained and the Sonar Grenade sounds reasonable in that way (though very similar to Crypto and Bloodhound), the Steam aspect of this character makes no sense. It could be that steam is some sort of internal phrasing for moths, but it remains to be seen. As it stands, it seems that Seer is meant to be a recon character, but it's unlikely these abilities are entirely accurate.
Another leak mentions that Seer has a drone of sorts, but this one in the shape of a moth. No drone is mentioned with the above abilities, so it becomes a matter of which is right. It's also worth noting that images of Seer's Apex Legends abilities have leaked (all seen below), and they seemingly correspond better with the idea of a drone than they do the above. Fans will know as season 10 gets closer, but it seems that Seer is mostly kept in the dark.
It's an interesting prospect too, given how much of Apex Legends' content seems to leak. Right now, it's entirely impossible to predict Seer's place in the meta as there's no real indication of who he is, but it's a sure bet that the season 10 meta will see its changes.
Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
