With the recent addition of companions to Genshin Impact's housing systems, players have the opportunity to invite their favorite characters to their teapot realm. By inviting companions to their realm, Genshin Impact players are able to earn a variety of rewards including primogems, mora, and character ascension fragments. In addition to these rewards, players are also able to passively earn Companionship XP through an often-overlooked system.

For players unfamiliar with the stat, Companionship XP is a type of experience that players earn which is used to level a specific character's friendship level. Increasing a character's friendship level will grant players access to a variety of lore information in the character's profile, new emotes for the character in photo mode, and an exclusive character-specific name card after reaching friendship level 10.

Typically, the way players increase their friendship level is by completing daily quests, commissions, bosses, and domains with a specific character. Unfortunately, this usually results in players quickly maxing out their main party's friendship level, while all of their additional characters remain stuck at friendship level 1.

Developer miHoYo has successfully fixed this issue with the addition of the realm bounty system. When speaking with Tubby in the Teapot realm, players will have the option to check their Adeptal Energy Rank. This ranking is determined by the number of objects and companions that players have placed throughout their realm. The higher the rank players achieve, the more realm currency and realm bounty players will obtain.

In order to maximize the amount of Companionship XP that players earn, it is recommended that players avoid placing companions who have already reached friendship level 10 in their realm as the Companionship XP gained will be wasted on them.

Players can have a maximum of eight companions placed throughout the realm, that will each earn a set amount of Companionship XP depending on the player's Adeptal energy rank. While the Companionship XP that players are able to earn is passive, they must still claim the XP through Tubby.

To claim all accumulated Companionship XP, speak with Tubby and select the Trust Rank option. From the menu, players will be able to claim their realm currency and should also see all their hosted companions listed at the bottom of the screen.

Next to the companion icons, players will notice an icon for a chest with a heart in the center. This icon represents the total amount of accumulated Companionship XP and can be claimed by clicking the icon on PC/mobile or by tapping R3 on PS4/PS5. Once players claim the XP, it will be distributed among the hosted companions and their friendship level will be temporarily displayed.

With these tips in mind, players will be able to slowly increase their friendship levels without much effort and have plenty of new nameplates to showcase in future updates.
