Shadowlands adventurers with Tier 2 Archivists' Codex reputation can use the Korthite Crystal Key to retrieve the Guise of the Changeling.

If you are a World of Warcraft player who is busy exploring the game's new Korthia region, chances are you'd like to get familiar with the location's Archivists' Codex faction. They are easy to please: the Codex simply wants you to give them as many Korthian Relics as possible.

Once you have gained some reputation with the Archivists' Codex, it functions like one of World of Warcraft's shops, albeit one that only trades in a currency that Codex itself provides, called "Catalogued Research." Think of it like a store that only works on store credit, and only awards store credit for donated Korthian Relics. Cataloged research can also be exchanged for Archivists' Codex faction reputation, at a ratio of 2-to-1.

Most Korthian relics you find will be loot, dropped by rare enemies, or collected from chests in Korthia and Desmotaeron. There are many such artifacts, each worth 1-300 Catalogued Research at the Archivists' Codex. However, there are also a few artifacts that the Archivists' Codex will specifically ask players to find.

These quest-bound artifacts aren't dropped from enemies or found in chests. Relic retrieval quests aren't necessary to gain reputation with the Archivists' Codex, but each quest-related artifact will grant a character 250 Catalogued Research and 500 Reputation, so the easy errands shouldn't be missed.

If you've got Tier 2 reputation with the Archivists' Codex, a quick and easy relic to retrieve is the Guise of the Changeling. The Guise of the Changeling is one of four fetch-quests unlocked by completing the "Missing Relics" quest. As World of Warcraft quests go, these are a bit unintuitive: Missing Relics starts when a Tier 2 reputation character speaks to Archivist Roh-Suir in the Reliquary of Remembrance and selects the "Missing Relics" quest dialogue option.

The quest itself simply consists of walking around the Reliquary, clicking on ghostly images of the missing relics in question, and speaking again to Archivist Roh-Suir. The game won't tell you, but the four relic retrieval quests will then be available. Those quests will be offered when you actually finding a missing relic.

All four relics are locked in Korthian Relic Boxes scattered around Korthia. Each requires a unique key, purchasable from Roh-Suir for 25 Catalogued Research. The box containing the Guise of the Changeling is unlocked with the Korthite Crystal Key. Note that these unique keys never restock, so if you lose one (or, some players report, just buy any before the Missing Relics quest starts) you're plum out of luck. Hopefully, Blizzard will patch the issue.

Once you've got the Korthite Crystal key, head to Hope's Ascent. The Korthian Relic Box containing the Guise of the Changeling is in the cavern beneath the mountain, in the southern alcove. When you take the Guise from inside it you will be offered a quest entitled "Guise of the Changeling".

Accept it and follow its single instruction: to return the Guise to Archivist Roh-Suir. Quest complete! Roh-Suir will thank you for contributing to the Codex's collection, but he must not be very attached to the Guise of the Changeling, because you get to keep it. It functions as a toy, allowing you once every 30 minutes to "take on the appearance of an attendant of Korthia."

World of Warcraft and its Shadowlands expansion are available now for PC.
