Millions of TikTok users are experiencing issues with the popular video app as server issues keep certain features from working.

Update 7/6: It appears as though TikTok services and features have been mostly restored as of 4:00pm CT.

Original story follows.

TikTok, the short-form video app, has become one of the world's most popular mobile apps in the last couple of years. TikTok is used by millions of people, celebrities, and brands, and has even gotten the attention of the United States government on more than one occasion. Unfortunately for the millions of people that use TikTok regularly, the TikTok app is currently experiencing server issues and some of its features are not working.

TikTok's problems started within the last hour and are ongoing at the time of this writing. Basically what's happening is that all TikTok videos are showing zero likes and users' For You pages aren't working properly. While videos are still loading, users are having to refresh the app instead of simply being able to scroll through TikTok videos like they would normally be able to do. This problem has happened before and will likely get resolved fairly quickly.

With TikTok being one of the world's most popular social media and video sharing apps, people are understandably concerned when it's not working properly. But as previously mentioned, TikTok has experienced this problem in the past and it didn't take too long for it to get its services fully restored. Usually when the app is in the news, it's due to some kind of controversy involving TikTok creators or the nature of the app itself.

TikTok's Chinese origins has gotten the attention of the United States government in the past, with some security experts concerned about how the app collects data on its users. At one point, the Trump Administration was going to ban TikTok, though that never came to pass and it seems that the prospect of banning the popular app is now completely off the table with the Biden Administration.

While it's had its fair share of controversies, TikTok doesn't appear to be going anywhere. Some TikTok stars, like Bella Poarch and Charli D'Amelio, have managed to branch out into the mainstream, and the platform has been increasingly used by major brands to make reveals and advertise products. If anything the TikTok app is only getting bigger and more popular as time goes on.

With TikTok being such a popular app for so many people, hopefully services are fully restored sooner rather than later. We will update this article as soon as TikTok's services are back in working order, and in the meantime, those who really can't do without it can still technically watch videos, even if it's not the most convenient right now.
