Destiny 2 players can get Solstice Packages that contain some of the loot during Solstice of Heroes 2021, but Key Fragments are needed to open them.

Solstice of Heroes 2021 has arrived in Destiny 2, and players can get Solstice Packages that contain Glimmer, resources, and gear. Players will need to jump into the event’s European Aerial Zone activity to get Solstice Packages.

This week in Destiny 2 has also brought in the penultimate set of weekly seasonal challenges for Season of the Splicer. The Vault of Glass Raid has also received its Master difficulty mode to add an extra challenge and new Timelost weapon variants to the activity.

Solstice Packages can only be earned by opening the loot chests found in the European Aerial Zone activity. During this activity, players have five minutes to run around the area looking for bosses to defeat.

Once the time is up, a final set of bosses need to be defeated to gain access to a loot chest. A few seconds after this chest is opened, all players will be able to see several other loot chest markers throughout the map. Destiny 2 players can get Solstice Packages, and the Solstice Key Fragments needed to open them from these loot chests.

As the chests’ locations are revealed, players will have a time limit to open as many chests as they can. The number of bosses that the players defeated during their run of the EAZ directly corresponds to how many chests will spawn. More chests will also grant players more time to get them, so players need to defeat as many bosses as possible to get the most loot.

Each package contains a few bits of loot – usually some Glimmer and Rare gear, but they can also contain Legendary gear and Enhancement Cores for Masterworking Weapons and Armor. Each package can only be opened with 15 Key Fragments, so players need to make sure they have enough of those before they begin opening packages.

Solstice Packages and Key Fragments will both appear in a player’s inventory. Players then need to hover the cursor over the package icon and follow the button prompt to open the package. Players will then be awarded the loot contained inside and 15 of their Key Fragments will be consumed.

Players should hold onto their Key Fragments and not open all their packages at once as the Solstice of Heroes armor must be upgraded by completing specific challenges. Some of these challenges involve opening a certain number of packages.

Opening enough loot chests in the EAZ and Solstice Packages will also help with completing some weekly challenges for the Solstice of Heroes event. If players open seven packages in a week, Eva Levante will give them a Tier 3 Powerful Gear Engram but opening 49 EAZ chests will award players with a piece of pinnacle gear.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light and the new Season of the Splicer are available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
