A report from amiibo news sources on Twitter reveals bad news for the Monster Hunter 2: Wings of Ruin set as GameStop doesn't have enough stock.

As release day grows closer for Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, Capcom has released plenty of new info to tide fans over and maintain their excitement. Unfortunately, a bit of news Capcom has remained silent on has appeared to kill the hype for amiibo fans. It seems that the figures for Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin are experiencing some shipping issues, and there won't be enough for everyone on launch day.

The Wings of Ruin amiibos are exclusive to GameStop, and like the ones for the original Monster Hunter Stories title, using them unlocks quests and special items. The collectibles also unlock exclusive costumes for the player character, such as the Ena amiibo, giving a costume of her outfit for the female avatar to wear.

Through a tweet posted by amiibo Alerts, the Monster Hunter Stories 2 collectibles have been found to be in short stock via GameStop through late deliveries, and due to that, they won't be available at most locations on launch day. Supposedly, the inventory GameStop's received thus far is believed to reach some stores in time, but not all. The delay is expected to make the amiibo sets up to a week late.

While amiibo Alerts says they received the information from numerous GameStop sources, they go on to say they couldn't share a photo for confirmation. If fans have any doubt about this information, however, a similar Twitter account, Amiibo News, has confirmed the information in the replies. The delay leaves a fair few fans in disarray, however, as the Monster Hunter Stories 2 amiibo aren't available for pre-order and online listings seem unlikely. There is a chance now that fans wishing to collect these figures may be lead into quite a struggle to grab them.

With this and the news that Monster Hunter Stories 2 requires a hefty download before playing, even on physical copies, what once was an eagerly awaited launch is ending up rather muddled. Fans not only have to wait for a 15 GB download to play the title, but they also need to contend with other fans and potentially scalpers to try and get the amiibos now. Some fans are speculating that this is Capcom's fault, but there's no confirmation of that fact.

At the very least, the delay is said to be as little as a week, and what features the figures offer are by nature optional. Some fans may be fine with waiting just a little longer, but collectors may end up just a bit more stressed. Even though the delay is said to take only a small amount of time, the situation may take a bit longer than expected. It seems fans will just need to wait and see if these amiibo get a little less rare once the deliveries finally get distributed.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin launches on July 9th for Nintendo Switch.
