A dedicated Pokemon fan builds an impressive Pokemon board game for friends and finishes first session after 23 hours of play.

There are custom projects that fans create as a tribute to their favorite series and then there is the latest fan-made Pokemon board game. A monumental feat, u/BZNintendo's latest project takes players on a long journey through eight gyms and to the Pokemon League on a beautifully crafted board. Their own Pokemon board game has captured the community's adoration and respect.

Pokemon has for years inspired players to create fusions, play in tournaments, and rack up hours in its numerous games. Notably, there have been official Pokemon board games including the Pokemon Master Trainer board game which was the inspiration for this creation. Interested parties should note that outside projects such as this one are often not for sale and singular creations that take weeks and even months to complete.

U/BZNintendo took the excellent formula in Pokemon's numerous video game titles and translated it as carefully as possible to this board game. Multiple players face off against one another and race to gather a strong team of Pokemon, gather eight gym badges, and beat the Elite Four as well as the Pokemon Champion. According to U/BZNintendo, the first to conqueror all the gyms and capture the championship is the winner of the game. The sprawling game board allows players to encounter wild Pokemon, capture them, battle NPCs, and explore the Kanto region.

This is a massive replication of the Pokemon video games and, judging by the reaction, it has caught the eye of many fans of the series. As u/BZNintendo explains, this board game is designed to operate just like the video games. The battle system, item gathering, and Pokemon team building are all designed to be as close to the game as possible.

The intention of this board game was just to give its creator and their friend's a project to enjoy. And noting that, the details on and around the board are as impressive as any licensed products. Unfortunately for those looking to get their hands on this board game, this was a one-off build for the creator and their friends. While that is likely disappointing news for some, the success of the post points to an opportunity.

With comments on the post discussing some of the lackluster feelings players of official Pokemon board games have had, a new product could be in order. At the very least, the demand on this post might inspire others to flex their creativity to try and create their own vision of what a Pokemon board game should look like. Either way, all should admire the time and care that went in to creating this beautiful board game.
