Mario Golf: Super Rush has one of the best character rosters in any of the games in the series, but it still could use improvements. Where is Link or Isabelle? Nintendo crossed over these characters and more into another sports-related Mario title, Mario Kart 8. That worked out to a great effect, as that game still sells like crazy.

It seems like the time is right for Nintendo to make the jump for this Switch game as well as it has been over two decades. While fans wait for DLC inclusions like Link, these ten characters in the game are well worth investing time into due to their personalities, powers, and stats.
10 Waluigi
Waluigi is a fan favorite in the Mario franchise. But he often doesn’t get the love fans think he deserves in a lot of titles. In Mario Golf: Super Rush he gets some good recognition as a speedy character. His dash is pretty graceful as he spins around on one foot like a majestic skater. His special shot isn’t as amazing as his dash but Waluigi is still a top-tier character in the game.
9 Rosalina
Rosalina is unique because she is only one of two characters that can fly. The other is Boo who moves a bit too slowly in comparison. Her floating dash makes it easier to maneuver around other players on the course.

Like Waluigi her special shot isn’t anything that amazing. It has a good reach, but that's about it. Her overall stats and normal speed are great though so everything averages out.
8 Daisy
Daisy is another golfer that has the stats to make her one of the best characters in Mario Golf: Super Rush. Her dash animation is a lot of fun to watch as she throws two clubs in the air and then jumps to catch them. It’s an Olympic feat that matches her athleticism. Her golf shot has a big impact upon landing which goes against her more modest appearance. Don’t be fooled by that smile. Daisy has a lot of power behind those eyes.
7 King Bob-omb
King Bob-omb is a character that hasn’t been among the typical rosters for most Mario sports spinoffs. His crowning achievement was in Super Mario 64. King bob-omb is typically one of the slower characters on the roster. His dash speeds him up a little and is fun to watch, with a bunch of little bob-ombs carrying him off. His power shot also uses bob-ombs because once the ball lands, it splits into four bob-omb like landmines. The trap is useful against other players in the game.
6 Bowser
Bowser’s outfit is already a good enough reason to main this evildoer in Mario Golf: Super Rush. He has about the same speed as King Bob-omb normally. His dash, also capable of plowing players over, is much faster. Despite his giant size, Bowser seems pretty graceful in his movements. His special shot will get engulfed with flames and once it lands, will create a sort of scorched earth effect.
5 Bowser Jr.
Bowser Jr. does not get as much appreciation as the original Koopalings from the fans. He can be seen as annoying in the main Mario games and in spinoffs. 2021 seems to be his renaissance though what with his inclusion in Super Mario 3D World on Switch as well as Mario Golf: Super Rush. His dash attack summons a Bullet Bill to carry him a short distance. This can also knock players out of the way. His golf special isn't that unique, but its impact can cause a lot of damage with its explosive area attack.
4 Yoshi
Yoshi does a pretty job for himself on the golf course for being a sidekick in a lot of Mario games. Like Bowser Jr., Yoshi rides something that gives him a good amount of speed in his dash. Instead of a Bullet Bill, Yoshi uses a giant egg.

His power swing is also egg-themed wherein he eats his ball, pops it back out as an egg, and then sends it flying off with his tail. It might surprise players their first time seeing it, but there's no denying that it's a useful move to have.
3 Luigi
Luigi often plays second fiddle to Mario despite him being more popular in some factions of the fandom. Luigi uses the power of ice in order to get the drop on his opponents. This allows him to skate along the golf course with his dash attack. His power shot creates an icy landing upon impact. Players that run into it will have a hard time getting around.
2 Wario
As good as Waluigi is in Mario Golf: Super Rush, Wario is much more animated and thus more fun to watch. His dash attack sends Wario flying through the course on a jet pack. His normal speed isn't that great but this dash attack gives him a better advantage than some of the other heavier characters like Bowser.
His power shot creates a thundercloud which can zap players upon impact. This creates a stun effect that makes it hard to read the golf meter for a short period of time. For example, if a player sees the meter readout as 150 yards, it might actually be only 100 yards. It can be a tricky status effect to deal with which is why Wario is so good.
1 Mario
Mario’s name is in the title so it shouldn't be surprising that he's the best character in Mario Golf: Super Rush. His overall stats from his normal speed to his swing are fairly high, making him a well-rounded character. His dash attack is a fun treat to watch as he backflips ahead of the pack. What really makes him an ace in the hole is his power shot which explodes upon impact like many others. However, it also gives him Super Star power which not only makes him super-fast, but lets him plow into enemies and send them flying. As of right now, Mario is a little overpowered in the game.
