Despite being one of the biggest western RPGs in the world, Bethesda's Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is somewhat notorious for glitches and miscellaneous programming hiccups. Whole lists have been dedicated to showcasing some of the craziest glitches in Tamriel, with people still seemingly finding more even after all these years. Now, a fan has posted a screenshot they took of their character, who seems to be displaying a distinct glowing eye.

Uploading the image to Reddit recently, user u/KuribohOTC2 made light of the fact that their Skyrim character had a unique feature brought on by one of the epic game's many bugs. They say their character's right eye, which is glowing a bright blue, was brought on by an attack from an ice spike which does not appear to have disappeared since, leaving their avatar with a rather humorously unintentional visual feature that may be with them for the rest of their gaming days. Many in the comments have suggested new nicknames for KuribohOTC2's character, including "Eyece" or simply "Ice Eye," while others have taken to rehashing the "I used to be an adventurer like you..." meme and providing new context for it.

For those unfamiliar with the ice spike, it is a magic attack that comes under the Destruction school of magic, and allows players and NPCs to, as the name suggests, shoot icicle-like spikes from their hands. The Elder Scrolls series is well known for its use of magic as both offensive and defensive mechanics, though arguably less well known for giving players the frozen equivalent of a Borg eye.

As previously mentioned, this is by no means the only bug that Skyrim players have encountered. The game has been going since 2011 and many patches and updates have been released to try and quash any errors. In fact, the game is so notorious for bugs that people have been spotting them since day one, with one report showing a headless mage in the Xbox 360 version just a few days after the title was released.

It's hard to say whether Bethesda will patch out this rather unusual oversight, but given that it doesn't seem to be causing any harm to the character, it's perhaps not something that will be on the studio's list of priorities. For now, KuribohOTC2 will just have to make do with it, which they don't seem phased by at least. Some may even say it looks quite fetching.
