Hitting 1 million gold in Skyrim without mods or exploits isn't the easiest feat to accomplish, but one dedicated player manages to pull it off.

In most cases, the purpose of modding The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is to make the game infinitely easier on the player. Skyrim is nearing its 10th year since release, and although acclaimed, it can still be a rough experience. While some players may rely on mods for updated graphics and bug fixes only, others are more practical in that they may instead give themselves more feasible in-game items such as potions or gold. However, one Skyrim player put in the work without the use of any mods or exploits, managing to hit 1 million gold legitimately.

To be fair, earning gold in Skyrim without the use of mods or exploits isn't an easy task. Some Skyrim players found it difficult to manage even 100k after a regular playthrough. Even more hardcore players often find that they just don't have the patience. Undoubtedly, attaining any surmountable sum in Skyrim requires a lot of time - players not only take their items to a merchant to sell but are forced to wait for the merchants to have money to buy players' items. Altogether, the act of hitting 1 million gold is difficult to pull off without some type of knowledge of how money in Skyrim works.

In the case of Redditor mstrjohn117, they cracked the sequence to making money in Skyrim. He shared an image to Reddit of the amount of gold in his inventory, which came up to be a total of 1,000,458 gold. A quick peek at the rest of the inventory reveals a bunch of gemstones that likely played a part in the mass fortune he attained.

In the comments, mstrjohn117 went into the details behind his process. For him, investing in the Alchemy and Speech perk trees was the easiest way to make money. In regards to Alchemy, he took initiative by harvesting ingredients throughout the world in order to mass-produce potions to sell. As for Speech, the skill tree allowed for the player to increase the number of friendly vendors had throughout the world. The entire process took the Skyrim connoisseur close to 100 hours to complete, and he isn't even done yet, as he's even aiming for all the achievements.

The accomplishment, while commendable, is also quite amusing to some. Playing Skyrim without mods has, at this point, become quite the novelty. That one Skyrim player has taken it upon themselves to actually play the game without mods is quite different, though certainly a welcome sight to see.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is available now on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Switch, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
