July 8 was Video Game Day, and to celebrate the occasion Discord has organized a sweepstakes giveaway. But while next-generation consoles are an exciting prize, there is still more in store for fans. Discord's giveaway will also be offering fans two other consoles as part of a packaged prize, which is sure to excite fans of gaming consoles whether they are interested in next-generation consoles, current-generation consoles, or retro consoles.

Discord's Video Game Day Sweepstakes grand prize winner will receive a PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch Lite Blue, and a broken GameCube. Fans may be enter Discord's Video Game Day Sweepstakes through either Twitter, TikTok, or Instagram. The greatest benefit of Discord's giveaway is that a single winner will receive each console listed. Ultimately, this means that individual winners will not be receiving individual consoles based on which place they come in at the sweepstakes giveaway. That said, fans entering the giveaway have individual requirements that must be met on each social platform to confirm their eligibility.
Further, the Nintendo Switch Lite Blue is offered as another system prize in the giveaway. While the Switch Lite is exclusively a portable device, many fans prefer a handheld edition of the system at the benefit of a lower cost than the original model. The Nintendo Switch's OLED Model, which was recently announced, is releasing this October. But fans of Nintendo's growing line of Switch systems may still be excited to receive a Switch Lite as part of a larger giveaway.
Fans have responded to Discord's announcement of the giveaway with surprising results. Interestingly, the GameCube is described as being "broken." However, there is not an explicit disclaimer for why it is in this condition. Many fans are voicing that they may be entering the sweepstakes for the opportunity to obtain the GameCube, despite it being in a broken condition.
If the GameCube is indeed in an unsuitable condition for fans to play games on, then perhaps it is meant to be a consolation prize alongside its much more expensive and contemporary counterparts. Rather, assuming that the GameCube performs without issue since it is part of the giveaway, this seems to suggest that nostalgic fans are willing to sacrifice cosmetic quality for the chance to experience Nintendo's older games again.
Besides Quebec, the giveaway grants eligibility to residents of the United States and Canada. Discord's Video Game Day Sweepstakes began yesterday on July 8, and ends next week on July 15. Winners will then be selected at random and announced around July 25, so fans have much to soon look forward to if they wish to enter.
