Over the years, the FIFA franchise has seen many iconic athletes appear on the cover of its annual releases, with the lineup including popular players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Eden Hazard, and Marco Reus. Earlier today, EA revealed which star would be gracing the cover of the upcoming FIFA 22, and it's sure to be an unsurprising pick for soccer fans.
Following his stint on the box art of FIFA 21, Kylian Mbappe has taken the game's cover spot for a second year running, with EA noting over on Twitter that it's honored to have him back. The 22-year-old French star is one of soccer's biggest current names, playing as a forward for Paris Saint-Germain and the French national team.

As for the game itself, there's some other news, with EA announcing that the official FIFA 22 reveal trailer is slated to launch on July 11. Although it doesn't confirm any details about what it will feature, it notes that the trailer will be "game-changing," which is definitely a compelling reason to tune in. It'll be interesting to see whether this year's follow-up will be able to provide long-time players a truly next-generation FIFA experience, with reviews of FIFA 21 criticizing its lack of innovation over prior entries in the series.
It seems EA has picked the perfect time to reveal the latest FIFA game to soccer fans, with the trailer landing alongside the finals of the long-running UEFA European Football Championship. The competition has come with plenty of dramatic matches and moments already, with the England National Team managing to make their way to the Euro championship final for the first time in their career. They'll face Italy in a high-stakes match to take home the trophy, which will seemingly be preempted by the first look at FIFA 22.
It isn't the only sports title EA is currently ramping up its marketing for, with Madden NFL 22 also recently revealing its cover athletes and some new gameplay. The box art sports both Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, while the game has confirmed it'll make several changes following criticisms from fans, specifically in regards to its Franchise Mode. The title will launch on August 12, while FIFA 22 currently has no release date but seems primed to hit PC and consoles this Fall.
Fans are likely to see both games at EA Play's More EA SPORTS! stream, which will air on July 20. The event promises a fresh look at the publisher's biggest upcoming sports titles, suggesting both FIFA and Madden will crop up.
