Genshin Impact reveals details surrounding its 2.0 update, which adds the Inazuma region and other big new features including cross save support.

The ever-expanding, ever-popular title Genshin Impact continues to grow. The wide-ranging game has revealed in a press release today details about its highly anticipated Version 2.0 update, which will introduce a new city and region to explore, along with new characters, bosses, and more.

MiHoYo's anime-styled RPG had its most recent update with last month's sizable 1.6 update, which added new character Kazuha along with the Midsummer Island Adventure, alternate outfits and more. While leaks regarding the next update, believed to be 1.7, have been circulating online for weeks, Genshin Impact is apparently subverting fan expectation and moving along straight to a full 2.0.

Genshin Impact's Version 2.0 update is titled The Immovable God and the Eternal Euthymia, and will introduce the brand new Inazuma region. Ruled over by the Electro Archon, Inazuma is on the other side of the ocean from the main playable regions of the game so far. According to the press release, the insular island region of Inazuma is home to entirely different creatures, cultures and mysteries for players to discover. The region has six islands in total, where the ruling Electro Archon has apparently become obsessed with the pursuit of eternal life. Update 2.0 is adding individuals like Kamisato Ayaka as new playable five-star characters, which should come in handy against Inazuma's threats.

While Genshin Impact's Version 2.0 update is bringing a huge amount of new content to the game itself, some players are most excited about something about the title's functionality. The new update will introduce the long-awaited and long-requested cross-save feature. Confirming leaks of cross-save support a few days ago, the upcoming changes will allow accounts to be used freely across all available platforms, finally allowing PlayStation players to move their Genshin Impact accounts onto mobile and PC, and vice-versa.

Speaking of PlayStation players, the new update for Genshin Impact will include exclusive features and upgrades for PS5. While all versions will receive improved character shading and feature optimization, PS5 players will enjoy DualSense haptic feedback support, along with a smooth 60 FPS and 4K visuals. For comparison, the current version of the game on PS4 runs at only 30 FPS, and tends to suffer from slow loading times and properly rendering textures, meaning some players should see a significant improvement in visual fidelity once Version 2.0 officially rolls out.

With Genshin Impact Version 2.0 set to launch July 21, fans should ready themselves for a whole host of new things to do and discover. While the next update doesn't include the new interactive map feature available in China, with the rate MiHoYo has been going, it could easily show up sometime in the near future.

Genshin Impact is out now for Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5, with a Switch version in development.
