A team of Halo: The Master Chief Collection players give their lone enemy 99 kills to make up for the player being abandoned by teammates.

Sometimes, competitive games like Halo: The Master Chief Collection are about more than winning. This shows clearly when a group of friends playing Halo multiplayer decided to forefeit victory to the enemy team, and they did so for an unusual reason.

As with any situation involving human players, difficult scenarios can arise if a team decides to abandon a teammate in Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Once that happens, the abandoned players are at the mercy of the larger opposing team, as their competition is given an unfair advantage.

When Reddit user DigiPall and their Halo: The Master Chief Collection group noticed that the enemy team was composed of just one player, they turned the advantage on its head and let the lone player kill them, over and over again, until the player won the game. Since Halo: The Master Chief Collection doesn't add bots to matches to make up for lost players, the opposing player had to manually kill the other team's players 99 times. Still, the win that followed this boosting was certainly worth it.

Online multiplayer games can be brutal, and the Halo series is no exception. As such, finding other players who are good sports about unusual situations is a relief for less experienced gamers. To boost the kills quickly, team members ran in front of one of Halo's iconic Warthog vehicles. With being run over serving as such a quick way to die, the roadkilled players are able to respawn and run right back in front of the Warthog. When the player was one kill away from victory, they left the vehicle to make the last kill an Execution, bringing the point counter to 100 and winning the game.

With Halo Infinite's multiplayer coming soon, players are bound to be practicing with the previous Halo games, mastering the mechanics so that they can be ready when the time comes to step into the next one. Halo: The Master Chief Collection is the easiest way to experience the classic Halo games, especially since its launch on PC, and the multiplayer is a massive part of the experience. With the multiplayer in Halo 2 kicking off Xbox Live and helping push online console gaming into the mainstream, it only makes sense that the series' multiplayer community would carry on over decades. After all, the decision to base Halo Infinite's first season off Halo Reach undoubtedly came from the popularity of that game's multiplayer.

343 Industries has made missteps with the Halo series, but the upcoming free-to-play multiplayer in Halo Infinite looks promising and will hopefully live up to the series' past. If the multiplayer is well made, perhaps more wholesome stories of good sportsmanship will happen in that game as well.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
