Finding all of the Diviner's Rune Chits can be a painstaking challenge for those that don't know where they spawn.

Diviner's Rune Chits is yet another search and gather quest added in the 9.1 update to Shadowlands. As is the case with many of these new items and quests, Blizzard have made sure finding the additions will not be easy. To start the quest, players will need to find a Pouch Of Rune Chits. This will initiate the quest with Archivist Roh-Suir.

Surprisingly enough, the objective of the quest is to collect 20 Rune Chits and return them to the Archivist. As a reward, gamers will get the Ancient Korthian Runes toy, as well as 9,999 Rune Chits and 250 Catalogued Research.

As stated, the quest begins as soon as players acquire the Pouch of Rune Chits. The pouch has a chance to drop in any of the random treasure locations throughout Korthia. These are the Invasive Mawshrooms and Nests of Unusual Materials. So far, there are nine dedicated spawns in total for the Mawshrooms and Unusual materials. To save players time, all of those waypoints are included below.

Gamers will notice that all of the nests have a purple outline. They look similar to a bird's next, but flat, making them difficult to see. This is especially true for those with a wide FOV.

  • Seeker's Quorum: (51.88, 44.06) The nest rests on the branches of the tree.
  • Seeker's Quorum: (42.23, 55.92) Right next to the hole that leads to the cave in Seeker's Quorum.
  • Vault of Secrets: (52.35, 72.77) On a small hill outside of the Vault.
  • (63.74, 31.23) Climb up the small winding branches of the tree at the waypoint.

The mushrooms are small with a purple glow, they can be found in groups of three.

  • Estuary of Awakening: (41.21, 44.95) In-between the rock and the tree.
  • Hope's Ascent: (35.67, 31.04) On one of the roots clinging to the side of the cliff.
  • Mauler's Outlook: (49.97, 32.57) On top of the root at the waypoint.
  • Scholar's Den: (60.69, 38.23) Climb up above the gray cage on the tree.
  • (42.29, 34.60) Climb up the twisting root at that location.

Every single one of these locations is on a spawn timer, and the locations that spawn vary from day to day. Apart from using LFG for help, general chat is the only other way to get information on these particular spawns.

If those two methods aren't helpful, the only other option is to stop by each to see if the Mawshrooms or Nests appear. This is a recurring theme in the 9.1 patch that forces players to travel from one location to the next in order to complete the Archivist's quests. So far, there is no distinct pattern to the spawns, making the search even more tiresome.

The Ancient Korthian Runes toy is a confusing item that many in the community are trying to understand. Thus far, the best assumption is that the item is similar to a Tarot reading. In total, there are 12 different runes with different sets of readings. Trying to understand what all of the combinations actually mean is probably better suited for someone that has an elementary knowledge of Tarot. For now, gamers can come up with their own interpretation of what the reading means.

For completing the quest, players will receive a ton of Rune Chits, as well as 250 research. These research points can be used to purchase items from Roh-Suir. Of course, there are only certain items available depending on what research level the character is. There are three different research tiers with the Archivist in 9.1.

Despite the quest's painstaking search and loot process, the quest rewards are not too bad. It is difficult to acquire a lot of research from rare drops, and the Rune Chit objective is guaranteed. As for the Korthian Runes Toy, it is purely for collection/entertainment.
