There is a Mysterious Mushroom Ring in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands' Ardenweald zone, and this guide details how to summon its rare.

While exploring the Ardenweald zone in World of Warcraft's Shadowlands expansion, players may come across a rare designated as a Mysterious Mushroom Ring on their mini-maps. However, fans will not find any mob to fight upon arriving at this location, and some players may be confused about exactly how to summon the foe. Fortunately, it is quite straightforward to spawn the Mysterious Mushroom Ring rare in World of Warcraft, though it does require the participation of multiple players.

Updated July 10, 2021 by Mina Smith: With all of the changes that came to Shadowlands with the new update, it is important to ensure that all previous guides have been updated for accuracy and for clarity for new players. This article has been updated to make Dancing in the Mushroom Ring as easy as possible for everyone who has stumbled into Ardenweald and the other undead realms in the Shadowlands.

To get right to it, a total of three players are needed in order to transform the Mysterious Mushroom Ring into an enemy, and everyone should begin by standing on the location marked by the star. Fans will find that this area is designated as the Ring of Dance, and indeed dance is the key to summoning the Mysterious Mushroom Ring rare in World of Warcraft. More specifically, Player 1 needs to /dance with Player 2, Player 2 needs to /dance with Player 3, and Player 3 needs to /dance with Player 1 while in the Ring of Dance.

Immediately upon initiating this three-way dance, the Mysterious Mushroom Ring rare will appear, and it is a humanoid enemy named Macabre. It is a level 61 Elite. World of Warcraft players can now proceed to dispatch the mob, and that should be easily done if everyone that participated in the summoning works together to defeat it. Indeed, a group of three can slay Macabre without breaking a sweat, and they should be looting their rewards shortly after they have summoned the creature.

With respect to what those rewards are, the Rocky pet is perhaps the big prize. This companion has the look of a small purple fox, and every player that fights Macabre should receive it due to its 100% drop rate. This is not something that can be said about this Ardenweald rare's other drops, though, and some fans will walk away from the battle with Anima-infusing items while others will not. Other non-grey items dropped by Macabre are:

  • Polished Pet Charm
  • Coin of Brokerage
  • Unchecked Aggression
  • Flame Accretion
  • Translucent Image
  • Echo of Mortality
  • Shrouded Cloth
  • Misty Shimmerleaf
  • Animaflower Bud
  • Slumbering Starseed
  • Nascent Sporepod
  • Plump Glitterroot
  • Fossilized Heartwood
  • Lightless Silk
  • Thorny Loop
  • Unusually Large Mushroom
  • Duskthistle Belt
  • Blackthorn Chestplate
  • Duskthistle Helm
  • Eventide Vest
  • Shimmerbough Cord, Gloves, Hood

To note, Macabre is certainly not the only rare in Ardenweald, and players may want to track down the likes of the Slumbering Emperor and Humon'gozz after they have solved the mystery of the Mysterious Mushroom Ring. These rares reward players with a sleep-inducing ring and a mount respectively, and unlike Macabre they can be taken on solo. This means that there are plenty of opportunities for fans to fight rares in the Shadowlands expansion even if they do not have immediate access to a group.

World of Warcraft is available now for Mac and PC.
