With the recent buff to Auto Rifles the SUROS Regime is getting noticed again in Destiny 2. The SUROS Regime is great in PVP content and can shred adds in PVE with the fast-firing mode. The potential healing from the tail end of each magazine is also a nice touch.

The SUROS Regime is also a great addition to the gun and makes it well worth the effort to track down. To see why chasing down the SUROS Regime Catalyst it’s important to know what it does and where one can be found.

The SUROS Regime catalyst brings a small, but valuable perk to the Auto Rifle called SUROS Ascendance. SUROS Ascendance has the following effect:

• Increase the chance that kills with the last half of the magazine will heal the player.

It’s not exactly clear how much of an increase the SUROS Regime Catalyst brings. But players have stated that they’ve noticed a difference with the Catalyst as opposed to without. This dramatically helps player survivability in any kind of content.

The SUROS Regime Catalyst is a random drop whenever the player kills a Guardian in Crucible matches. It doesn’t what type of Crucible match the player is doing or even if they win the Crucible match. The sole trigger is a Guardian death in Crucible.

The player does not need to wield SUROS Regime for the Catalyst to drop, though it does help for upgrades later. The difficulties don’t impact drop rates so players simply need to grind Crucible matches and get as many kills as possible.

To upgrade the SUROS Regime Catalyst the player needs to defeat 300 Guardians using the SUROS Regime. These kills can be obtained retroactively so any Guardian kills done with the SUROS Regime prior to getting the Catalyst will count towards the 300.

It's important to ensure that the final blow is dealt with the SUROS Regime Catalyst or it won’t count. Otherwise, players simply need to pick a Crucible match of their choice and start racking up Guardian kills. This is also a great way to get Crucible-specific Catalysts like The Colony Catalyst.

While any Crucible match will help with finding the SUROS Regime Catalyst and upgrading it there are some that are better than others. Control, Momentum Control, and Clash are all modes that support or incentivize the player getting high Guardian kills per round.

Lockdown mode is also notorious for players dragging the round out to try and get a high kill to death ratios so this can be used as well. Just keep in mind doing this can be frustrating and will likely make more enemies than friends.
