Taking down the legendary gator's of Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online can be a serious challenge without some plans going in.

Readers that have played through Red Dead 2's story mode will remember that there is a legendary alligator called the Bullgator near Saint Denis. The skin from the Bullgator, as well as its teeth, can be used to craft unique items in-game.

In Red Dead Online, two other legendary alligators were added to the game. These are the Teca Gator and the Sun Gator. Tracking down these RDO legendary animals can be frustrating because of how rare they are. However, there are a few things gamers can do to increase their chances of finding and hunting these massive gators in RD2.

The Teca Gator has a wide spawn range in the Bayou south of Caliga Hall and east of Braithwaite Manor. Teca Gators almost exclusively roam the islands in the east/southeast of the Bayou. Players will have more luck spotting them if they search the outer islands. None of the RDO legendaries have dedicated spawns, so gamers can expect to see Teca Gators on many of the islands in the area.

To increase their odds, players will want to search after dark when the weather is stormy. Although, many have been spotted when both of these conditions are not present at the same time. If it is stormy or nighttime, gamers will have a chance of finding one.

Players that have decent weapons and sufficient ammunition should be able to take care of the Teca without too much trouble. After being shot, the Teca will charge. At that point, gamers will want to swap to their secondary and create some distance before securing the kill. The legendary gator is surprisingly fast, but it will die after a few headshots.

Legendary gator skins can be sold to Gus for $21.75, and each tooth sells for $3.20. Selling these items will unlock the Legendary Teca Garment Set, which looks absolutely incredible. The headpiece is a gator head, that is all that needs to be said. Out of all the RDO legendary garments, the Teca is one of the best available. The garment set will cost $378.25, plus one additional legendary skin.

Sun Gators can be found north of Saint Denis in the Bluewater Marsh. The alligators have been spotted in a few different locations in the center of the marsh north of Lagras on the map. Unlike the Teca Gator, Sun Gators like to roam around during foggy mornings. Sun Gators will spawn from 6 am to 9 am in-game, which is a tight window. The fog in RDO is quite thick too, making it a little more difficult to spot this gator. Players should remember to check their map, which will reveal the legendary creature's location if it is close.

Hunting the Sun Gator is slightly more challenging. Sun Gators can swim, which makes them even more impossible to see from far away. They swim faster than they run, and by some margin. If one of these gators gets close enough to attack, the hunter will almost always die.

Sun Gators can pop up out of nowhere and kill people in a matter of seconds. For the above reasons, the Sun Gator should probably be hunted in a group. That way, if one of the hunters dies, the Sun Gator will not disappear for 72 hours. The creature has a small enough health pool that one of the people hunting it can be used as bait.

Because it is more taxing to hunt, Gus will award slightly more for the Sun Gator's skins and teeth. Once those are sold, Gus will offer the Sun Coat for purchase. It will cost $535.50 and another Sun Gator Skin. The set looks very similar to the Tecca garments, but with a brighter orange hue. Some may prefer the more colorful look, but it will cost them an extra $150.

The final legendary gator is the Bullgator from RD2 story mode. People can find the Bullgator on the water's edge near the Y in Lemoyne on the map.  The Bullgator's skins can be sold to the trapper, which will unlock the legendary Alligator Set. Additionally, the Alligator Tooth Talisman can be crafted, which reduces Dead Eye drain speed by 10%.
