One Skyrim player notices an interesting detail during the 'With Friends Like These' mission that forces players to make a difficult choice.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is home to a multitude of branching storylines and sub-plots. This allows the player to join and face-off against numerous factions presented within Skyrim. Though, one player encountered an extraordinary detail that occurs during the mission 'With Friends Like These,' the opening mission of the Dark Brotherhood storyline.

The Dark Brotherhood is one of the oldest factions in The Elder Scrolls series. It was first mentioned in The Elder Scrolls: Arena and the organization has since persisted across practically every entry in The Elder Scrolls series, including Skyrim. The opening mission where the player first encounters the organization is memorable, due to the fact that the player is forced to choose between three different people to kill, one of which being a wanted criminal. However, one player discovered a neat detail that helps to discern between the three.

A Reddit user by the name of DarkSteveYT makes the remarkable discovery that if the player casts the spell Clairvoyance, it will actually indicate to the player which of the three victims is the correct one to kill. Of the many spells in Skyrim, Clairvoyance is one that often gets overlooked or underutilized. So, to have it serve a key role in the progression of one of the most iconic missions in the game is fairly incredible.

It's amazing how many options of approach there are when it comes to Skyrim. The amount of choice and gameplay tools Skyrim presents its players is impressive, even by modern standards. Though, given the large amount of variety, as well as the laundry list of obscure spells and shouts present throughout the game, it may be hard for some players to think to use a spell like Clairvoyance in that sort of situation.

For some, it may be hard to believe that Skyrim is almost ten years old. To think that a game of that age can still manage to maintain an active player base, but can also hold secrets that can go unnoticed for several years is quite significant. In addition to the Clairvoyance discovery in the 'With Friends Like These' mission, one Skyrim fan made a discovery after playing the game for 7 years.

It will be interesting to see if Skyrim will manage to maintain its popularity in the coming years. With The Elder Scrolls 6 set to release at some point in the future, Skyrim has the potential to be surpassed in a pretty big way. Although, the lack of concrete information regarding The Elder Scrolls 6 makes the prospect one that's unlikely to be fulfilled anytime soon.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is available now on PC, PS3, PS4, Switch, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
