Monster Hunter Stories 2 fans may have trouble with a quest to find hidden treasure, but they can find the answers they seek with this guide.

Fetch quests are among the most well-known types of tasks that RPGs can give to their players for a challenge. Monster Hunter 2: Wings of Ruin features a particularly annoying treasure hunt quest that requires finding clues across the islands. For fans frustrated, this guide will explain just how to do it.

To start the quest, in the cold landscape of Loloska, there sits a "Relaxed Man" on a bench. Talk to him, and he'll give the quest "X Marks the Spot." Once that's in hand, the backtracking across Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin begins.

The first clue for this quest can be found on Sailor's Beach, found in the fork off to the side near Rutoh Village. Players should be familiar with this place, as their boat was here before becoming a Monster Hunter Stories pro. If the player stands near their boat and tilts the camera a bit to the left, they should find a cove just before the sand line ends, and the ocean begins with something sparkling found in the shade.

The sparkling object the player can pick up is the clue, and its hint talks about a waterfall.

For the next item Riders and their Monsties need to find, Hokolo Island is where they need to go. If they leave Mahana Village, there should be a waterfall that greets them on the left side of the camera view. That's the waterfall the clue speaks about. Once the player goes over to that waterfall, they should see sparkling at the foot of the cliffside to the right of its water flow. That's the second item that will take fans to their next clue.

This time the game tells players about a desert, but the next location does not require backtracking; it is actually ahead of players who've made it to Loloska. For the fans satisfied with this guide so far who don't wish to be spoiled, this is where they need to turn back.

After Loloska, players will have the Lemure area to explore, with a big desert full of sandy treasures to find. In the Jalma Highlands sits an oasis right at the center. Completionist Monster Hunter fans should be familiar, as a quest in this area features it. One of the more noticeable features of the oasis is a red rock formation. If the player travels to the highlands at night, on the rocks sits the treasure as another sparkling object.

With that treasure in hand, all that's left for the player to return to the Relaxed Man and give him the treasure, and the quest is complete. Players might want to save their Monster Hunter Stories 2 game once that's done unless they want to do it all over again.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is available now for Nintendo Switch and PC.
