For gamers who want to connect with friends to play Dead By Daylight, utilizing crossplay is often vital. Here's how.

Sometimes, gamers like to get their hearts pumping. It's safe to say that Dead by Daylight accomplishes that goal admirably. Desperately avoiding a homicidal killer while trying to escape the premises is much easier said than done. Luckily, fans can rely on the aid of friends who find themselves in the same boat.

But how does one connect with friends wishing to play Dead by Daylight? The issue of crossplay has irked video game fans for years, and not every title has the capability for it. For Dead by Daylight, the question becomes: Is it crossplay? Players who don't know are about to breathe a huge sigh of relief.

Dead by Daylight has been crossplay for almost a year now. Veterans may already know this, but to first-time players, it's assuredly welcome news. Finding a gang of friends to experience the terror is easier than ever with crossplay enabled.

It's never been a better time to experience Dead by Daylight if one hasn't already. A large cast of characters from several movie and video game franchises are available to choose from. Most recently, characters from the Resident Evil franchise have been included in the game. Fans of the classic series can survive the night as either Leon Kennedy or Jill Valentine. Alternatively, players can also try their hand at controlling the fearsome Nemesis.

Every gamer has a preference when it comes to platforms. Fortunately, one's console preference doesn't matter for a multiplayer round of Dead by Daylight. These are all the crossplay-supported rigs for the game:

As players can see, Dead by Daylight is quite accessible. Fans still hunting for a PS5 or Xbox Series S/X don't have to be left out of the fun. Even Nintendo players can get in on the action! Thus, finding someone to team up with shouldn't be an issue for the foreseeable future.

Once again, veterans are most likely pros when it comes to this topic. However, for those experimenting with crossplay for the first time, it's helpful to know how to actually find friends. To do so, follow these steps, which comes from the official Dead by Daylight website:

  • Go to Dead by Daylight
  • Go to your Friends List
  • Click on the Friend Icon (+)
  • Search for your friend's DBD ID

Once that's set up, connecting with friends the next time around will be a breeze. All players, no matter their individual progression, are integrated seamlessly into the crossplay experience. Anything and everything a player already owns can be brought to the table.

Of course, communicating with friends while playingis important too. Unfortunately, this is a bit of a mixed bag. Currently, there is no in-game chat function in Dead by Daylight for console users. PC gamers can still utilize pre-game and post-game chat like normal. The devs encourage their players to join their Discord community for more DBD action.

If for whatever reason, players no longer want their game to be crossplay-enabled, the solution is rather simple. Just navigate to the game's settings and select "Disable Cross-Platform Play." After that, players will only hook up with other fans using the same platform.
