Alongside new Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online content, Rockstar offers DLSS support to Windows users with eligible Nvidia graphics cards.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has undergone an update which finally activates DLSS support, Rockstar has announced. The July 13 update, allows players with Nvidia GPUs to get even more out of the game with this technology. Fortunately, Red Dead Redemption 2 players don't have to have the latest graphics card to experience the benefits of DLSS, which enhances lower resolution images through AI technology.

Red Dead Redemption 2 was released back in 2018 to general acclaim, in part, because of its impressive visuals and scenery. Nvidia DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) is an artificial intelligence rendering technology that increases graphics performance. This game is just one of a growing number that can now support this technology.

In the release video on the update, viewers can see the difference DLSS has on the game while activated. Nvidia DLSS is enabled in the settings menu and, according to Nvidia, accelerates performance by up to 45% at 4K. And this pertains to both Red Dead Redemption 2 as well as Red Dead Online. It presents players with a new option of playing the best selling video games of all time but it still requires all Windows users to have eligible Nvidia GeForce RTX graphics cards. But, with DLSS, all GeForce RTX players can jump into Red Dead Redemption 2's world with its settings maxed out at 1920x1080 at over 60 FPS.

This news is largely aimed at GeForce RTX gamers. Those who have Red Dead Redemption 2 on console won't be affected by this part of the overarching update. For those that do have those graphics cards, it means an even more impressive rendition of the game. This option was released alongside Red Dead Online's latest update Blood Money.

For some players, the improved FPS doesn't excite as it does with others. It likely was a piece of the larger update to Red Dead Online that these players didn't even notice. And for console players and those without the right hardware to activate DLSS on PC, that reaction is a perfectly reasonable way to approach it. In general, however, this is a notable event because of the capabilities of the technology.

Nvidia DLSS's artificial intelligence improves an already impressive title. The FPS and look of the game with the technology activated is incredibly impressive. And for a game that incorporated a lot of realism, this update takes it to a whole new level. Either way, players of Red Dead Redemption 2 have something to celebrate as this news comes along with the aforementioned content update for Red Dead Online as well.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
