Following the epic finale of Loki and the news of a second season, the God of Mischief may appear in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.

The following contains spoilers for the Loki Season 1 finale.

Fans have barely had the chance to take in all the massive, game-changing reveals of the finale of Loki but the impact of it is already beginning to take shape. Along with the very exciting news that the series will be getting a second season, there are now reports of Loki returning to the MCU before season 2 begins.

While reporting on the news of Loki's second season reveal, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Tom Hiddleston's Loki is expected to appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, they note that this has yet to be confirmed by Marvel at this point.

If true, Hiddleston will be the second star of an MCU Disney+ show to appear in Doctor Strange 2. Elizabeth Olsen is already confirmed to be joining the sequel in a substantial role as Wanda Maximoff following her Emmy-nominated turn in WandaVision. Benedict Cumberbatch will be returning as Strange along with stars of the first Doctor Strange movie, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Newcomer Xochitl Gomez will also appear as a new MCU character, America Chavez. The movie will be directed by Sam Raimi and written by Loki creator Michael Waldron along with Jade Halley Bartlett.

The last fans saw of Loki in the season 1 finale, the God of Mischief found himself stuck in a new timeline following Sylvie's murder of He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors). That action promised to expose the timeline to alternate versions of the mysterious man, all of whom want to rule over time itself.  Plot details for Doctor Strange 2 are being kept under wraps, but given the title, it will most likely deal with the ramifications of that final episode. It is also rumored that this storyline will play into the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home in which Doctor Strange will be appearing and is rumored to include previous Spider-Man actors, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.

Given Wanda's already confirmed involvement in Doctor Strange 2 and the reports that WandaVision would directly tie into the sequel, many fans thought that show would be the one to introduce the multiverse into the MCU. Few could have predicted Loki to be the most important of the Disney+ shows and one of the biggest game-changers for the entire MCU. To have Loki return in Doctor Strange after causing all this mayhem makes perfect sense. The question remains if Loki will find a way to escape the timeline he is stuck in or if Strange will have to do some timeline jumping in order to put everything right again. It's an exciting development that confirms that Doctor Strange is the MCU's most important hero right now and that Loki's time in the MCU is far from over.
