A Pokemon GO player shares a weird in-game glitch they discovered that caused Pikachu to float right after encountering it on the field.

With the constant updates that mobile title Pokemon GO undergoes on almost a weekly basis, players are likely not that surprised any more with the number of glitches they continue to experience while playing the game. Some even poke fun at it, sharing their hilarious discoveries to their fellow players. Recently, another fan experienced a glitch that makes Pikachu float when they tried to capture the Pokemon GO 5th Anniversary flying Pikachu.

Pokemon GO has continued to thrive even with the challenges the pandemic has brought on the video game industry. Celebrating its fifth anniversary this 2021, Pokemon GO has experienced its most lucrative year, reaching milestones that other titles can only dream of during the global crisis. To say the least, Niantic has definitely shown that it is capable of being flexible enough to adjust Pokemon GO’s key features to accommodate the lack of outside travel.

On Reddit, user Richard_3333 captured the Pokemon GO Pikachu glitch that caused a stir on the platform. In the video, the Redditor showed that they encountered the 5th anniversary flying Pikachu, and as soon as the capture phase started, Pikachu started to float in the air. The Pokemon stayed afloat for a couple of seconds before the clip ended, making it seem like it was flying. The original poster made fun of the footage, and said that it seemed that this particular Pikachu had kept the popular Fly move. Most Pokemon fans would know that this is a move that Pikachu cannot learn in the games due to it not being a Flying-type Pokemon.

Many commenters on the Reddit thread were highly amused by Richard_3333’s clip. However, it seems that players who want to replicate the same glitch might not be able to do so. The original poster mentioned that this glitch happened right before the Pokemon GO Pikachu spawns have changed, returning them to normal Pikachu instead of the balloon-carried one. Nevertheless, fans on the thread were likely amused by the short video, giving them something quick to laugh about while they were online.

With the Pokemon GO Fest 2021 in a few days, Niantic is expected to be very vigilant in making sure that glitches like the floating Pikachu will be kept to a minimum. Given that many fans will likely participate in the event, it is important for the developers to keep the app running as smoothly as possible. Hopefully everything turns out well and Pokemon GO fans enjoy the once-a-year festivities during the event.
