The iconic demon doll Chucky is all set for its comeback in the upcoming television series by SYFY and USA Network, and now the first teaser for the show that is part of the popular Child's Play franchise has been revealed. The 20-second clip shared by the studio on social media offers fans the first look at Chucky's brand new look and promises bloody mayhem, which fans of the franchise have gotten used to by now.
This is the first time the doll will feature in a series of its own, after having appeared in several movies in the Child's Play franchise. The first film was released in November 1988 and started a sort of cult following for the doll, who is possessed by the soul of a serial killer. It has been confirmed that the Chucky series will bring the doll back on the small screen in October 2021.

The Chucky teaser sets up the plot for the series, where the demon doll is up for grabs at what seems like a vintage yard sale. A teenager picks it up and takes it home, but it is revealed that a butcher knife is missing from the stall where Chucky was last spotted. Of course, the doll was responsible for taking it, as later shots in the teaser show Chucky in the teen’s home holding the knife, reminiscent of the original slasher horror films in the franchise, and laughing its iconic villainous cackle.
The official synopsis of the series has also been released, which sets the show in an “idyllic American town” where Chucky will be seen causing havoc. After being picked up at the yard sale by a 14-year-old artist, “a series of horrifying murders” will occur in the town, which will go on to expose several dark secrets of the residents. Fans will get to meet several “enemies and allies from Chucky's past” as well, which is bound to get fans of the franchise excited.
Child's Play creator Don Mancini is the one responsible for bringing the franchise to TV. It was confirmed in April that filming on the Chucky series had begun and fans already have the first look at the killer doll. The original theme from the films will be retained in the upcoming series, and what’s even better is that the original voice of the killer doll will also be returning. Brad Dourif, who voiced the demon doll in the film franchise, has been brought back for the show. Apart from him, franchise veteran Jennifer Tilly will also be returning to reprise her role as Tiffany Valentine, another murderous doll who plays Chucky’s wife.
Mancini has revealed that the doll’s new look has been inspired by the one in Child’s Play 2, which many consider the best film in the entire franchise. Additionally, there is a possibility the series will have more than one season. Mancini’s aim is to create a Chucky universe that spans over both television shows and films. It has been confirmed that the official trailer for Chucky will be revealed at the digital Comic-Con@Home event on July 25.
Chucky premieres on SYFY on October 12, 2021.
