Fallout 76 fans have been treated to a lot of big news in recent weeks, from the arrival of the game's Steel Reign expansion to the announcement that players will get to return to Fallout 3's The Pitt next year. However, it seems there's even more content coming to the game in the next few months, with a new Inside the Vault update on Bethesda's official website teasing something big is on the horizon.
According to the company, a "significant new feature" is slated to make its way to Fallout 76 during its September update. This mysterious addition will allegedly be a big change for frequenters of the game, with Bethesda claiming it adds "more variety" to how they interact with the title and the world of Appalachia as a whole.

Although that's all Bethesda had to say about the feature itself, the studio doesn't keep fans entirely in the dark, confirming that it'll provide more information on Fallout.com next week. Following this reveal, it seems fans will be able to trial whatever this cryptic addition is, with the update revealing that Public Test Servers will be re-opened later this month to offer fans an early look. Details on how to join the Public Test Servers and become one of those tasked with trying out the feature will be provided alongside its grand unveiling.
Whatever this new addition is, it joins a hefty list of updates implemented into Fallout 76 since its controversial release back in 2018. When the game debuted, it was afflicted by an array of game-breaking bugs, while fans also accused it of lacking content or any of the iconic RPG features synonymous with the Fallout franchise. Since then, Bethesda has spent years transforming the online title, adding NPCs, dialogue options, and new quest chains, the biggest of which is its new line of Brotherhood of Steel missions.
The finale of the two-part questline arrived just last week, seeing players become embroiled in a war between the Brotherhood of Steel and an army of Super Mutants. It brought an end to Fallout 76's recent lineup of content, although the team clearly still has a lot left in store for fans. The Pitt DLC is a good example, with the return to the creepy Fallout 3 setting being the first in a new line of additional quests. These missions will be known as "Expeditions," and will offer story-driven adventures that task players with venturing out to the game's wider world, suggesting they could visit a ton of interesting locales both featured and hinted at in prior Fallout titles.
Fallout 76 is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One.
