In the post-apocalyptic world of The Walking Dead: Survivors mobile game, there is no room in a thriving settlement for idle survivors.

The Walking Dead: Survivors is a recently released, strategy-based game for mobile devices. Based on The Walking Dead comic series, players are tasked with protecting the remnants of humanity from Walkers. But for their settlements to thrive, every single person needs to do their part. That means that there is no room for idle characters. More often than not, there is always something that can be done around the camp.

To survive the zombie apocalypse, players will spend most of their time gathering resources, such as produce and lumber. Players can also receive valuable resources from their clan members if they have previously joined one. These resources are then used for actions such as upgrading buildings, training units, recruiting other survivors, and reinforcing the wall keeping the Walkers at bay. By keeping their characters constantly occupied, players can save up ample amounts of necessary resources needed to progress through the game.

Players can identify whether or not they have idle characters by checking the "Production" menu. On The Walking Dead: Survivors main screen, the menu can be found in the upper left corner of the screen, just beneath the player's avatar image. Opening this menu will show players all their recruited survivors, as well as their current tasks.

As can be seen in many other modern survival games, players will eventually have to brave the world outside of their camp for supplies. Idle survivors, the snoring ones, can be assigned to available jobs, including exploration. Discovering new areas helps to expand the player's settlement. When unlocking a new location, these characters can then be used to collect the resources scattered throughout the new area. This includes gathering lumber from the many trees and bushes, harvesting produce, and examining any new buildings for hidden rubies.

Another use for idle survivors is for players to assign them to buildings within the settlement. Placing a character within a building helps to unlock special bonuses, such as shortened time limits and increased production rates. However, players should pay close attention to level requirements attached to some buildings, as many of these may require a higher leveled character.

Finally, idle survivors can be assigned to explore areas much farther away from camp. In addition to sending out formations to gather resources from fighting Walkers, characters can be assigned to Scavenge Sites. After having constructed the Scavenge Center, players can send out parties to explore Veggie Farms and Lumber Mills in order to bring in extra produce and lumber. Players can choose to send out a formation, or they to assign a single survivor to the task. However, this second option may result in fewer resources per trip.

The Walking Dead: Survivors is available for Android and iOS.
