Warframe developer Digital Extremes shares a sizzle trailer and an extended gameplay demo of upcoming expansion The New War at TennoCon 2021.

Fans of the free-to-play action RPG Warframe had a lot to look forward to when developer Digital Extremes announced that it would reveal gameplay of The New War content expansion during the sixth annual TennoCon on July 17. The online-only Warframe player convention would also give fans the opportunity to claim a Prime Warframe and participate in an in-game Relay event for an interactive preview of the new content.

TennoCon 2021 gave Warframe fans the chance to purchase a bundle of unique cosmetic items, such as a special Armor Set, Ephemera, Ship Display, and 475 Platinum, as well as gain access to Baro’s full inventory. Players could also buy the Merch Pack, which included a TennoCon 2021 t-shirt, pin, lanyard, and event badge, much like they would receive if the convention were held live.

Also at TennoCon 2021, which was broadcast live on Twitch, Digital Extremes released a trailer for The New War and provided fans with a 30-minute world-reveal gameplay demo of the expansion. The New War will release simultaneously for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S sometime later this year.

The New War is a story-based expansion that will require players to unite together in the Origin System now that Cetus and the Corpus fleet have fallen. For the first time ever, Corpus Engineer Veso, Grineer Soldier Kahl-175, and Dax warrior Teshin will be playable in a Quest. According to Digital Extremes’ Live Operations and Community Director Rebecca Ford, “The New War will continue Warframe’s very personal and intimate storyline with a dramatic narrative, unexpected experiences, and cinematic action sequences like we showcased today.”

In addition to providing fans with a first look at upcoming content like Nidus Prime and a classroom of Tenno inside Zariman, the Warframe TennoLive in-game Relay event immersed players from all over the world in a nostalgic look back at some of the more momentous and shocking plot moments of the game to date. This also allowed newcomers to Warframe to experience some of the more notable story events that they may have missed.

Cross-play, cross saves, and simultaneous cross-platform updates were also announced at TennoCon 2021. This will allow players worldwide to share adventures in the Origin System no matter their platform of choice and to maintain their progress if they upgrade their console from last gen to current gen. Warframe fans will also soon be able to take their experience with them, as a version of the game for mobile devices is currently in development.

Warframe is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
