NEO: The World Ends With You is the unexpected sequel that shocked fans, and many have been anticipating it since its reveal. With the loyal following the community has maintained over the years, a lot of love has been given to the first The World Ends With You. A lot of gamers have been wanting to see where the sequel would take this series, with overwhelming hype from the fanbase. However, in response to early copies of the game being shipped to fans, various videos and images on Twitter are being removed due to copyright reports.
These early copies were leaked by Square Enix itself, due to a distribution error in the system. Fans who pre-ordered a physical copy of NEO: The World Ends With You through the official Square Enix storefront received a receipt, but also a code. This code would unlock a full copy of NEO: The World Ends With You early on the Nintendo Switch. Many fans have taken advantage of this leak, sinking hours into this new entry. Some fans couldn't help themselves, however, as screenshots and videos of the game also went up on Twitter early.

Fans were already wary and cautious about being spoiled before release, as the wait for the sequel to the original The World Ends With You has been a long one. Fortunately, some damage control has been implemented in response to these leaked posts. Many of the ones containing spoilers regarding the game's story, ranging from screenshots to full videos uploaded by fans, were immediately reported. These were presumably at Square Enix's behest, as most tweets that contained an image or video were removed due to a copyright report.
While the distribution of these early codes has ceased, there are still some fans who are either curious or wary of their timelines being filled with spoilers from others. This was not the only time that Square Enix tried to prevent spoilers from being shown, but this was undoubtedly one of the largest self-inflicted leaks from an official source.
Some fans were more cautious though, as others who might have received an early copy are playing and staying silent about their experiences. For other fans who are anxiously waiting for this sequel, the potential of being spoiled is still out there despite Square Enix's attempts to contain the spoilers. On the bright side, fans won't have to hold their breath much longer, as the 14 year wait for NEO: The World Ends With You is almost over.
