Rockstar Games has a long history of its titles producing plenty of unexpectedly hilarious bugs, and Red Dead Redemption 2 has seen its fair share of weird and wacky glitches over the three years since the game's release. Fans have found countless ways, intentionally or unintentionally, of breaking the rules of Red Dead Redemption 2, and players are constantly discovering new quirks within the massively popular the open-world Western.
Rockstar's open world games are no stranger to a plethora of bugs that can range anywhere from breaking the game's physics to re-creating the Undead Nightmare expansion from the first Red Dead Redemption. Much like its sibling series, Grand Theft Auto, the cowboy western's massive open world comes hand-in-hand with a number of different ways for the game to break and function abnormally. One player recently discovered a particularly peculiar bug giving the game's protagonist Arthur Morgan an unusual new look.

A Reddit user by the name of rararapsutin was playing the game when they stumbled upon this unusual bug after fast-traveling to the in-game town of Valentine. Upon arriving in Valentine, the player had found that Arthur's top half had been trapped inside a barrel. Fans have used the various outfits in the game to mimic a number of different characters, even a cowboy Patrick Star, but this look for the rugged outlaw looks like something pulled straight from Scooby-Doo.
Despite the peculiar wardrobe malfunction, the game still seems to function properly even as Arthur's top half is obscured from his wooden shell. The video within the post shows the player continuing to control the game as intended with Arthur able to both shoot his guns and ride horses, all while donning the wooden overcoat. The player mentions in the title of the post that the game had to be fully restarted in order to free Arthur from his wooden prison. Bugs like this affecting the player's appearance are nothing new for Red Dead Redemption 2, like another recently discovered glitch that sees Arthur donning John Marston's attire.
The image of a barrel-clad Arthur running the streets of Valentine plays a stark contrast to the game's heavy emotional story beats with many other users taking enjoyment out of the comical appearance of Arthur's new look. Many fans within the post's comments expressed their desire to play the entire game as a barrel-clad Arthur with others suggesting that the change in appearance may be due to one of Red Dead Redemption 2's many mods.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Stadia.
