There are tons of things to buy in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, meaning players will need some consistent methods to farm Rupees.

Not much has changed for players when it comes to Rupees in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD. To start, there are a ton of things to spend Rupees on. Between spending at Beedle's Airshop and gear upgrades, players may find that it can get pretty expensive early on.

Thankfully, the methods to farm Rupees fast haven't changed much, either. There are still many ways for Skyward Sword HD players to get their hands on tons of the main currency. Further, players may also want to begin investing in wallet upgrades to maximize how much they can carry at once. For those that are curious, this guide will get into the various methods of farming Rupees in Skyward Sword HD.

First, each Rupee has a different value depending on its color. Few Zelda fans are unaware that Gold Rupees are the most coveted though its good to take note of the other colors, especially when it comes to Rupoor. Here's a quick rundown on the value of each:

  • Gold Rupee: 300 Rupees
  • Silver Rupee: 100 Rupees
  • Red Rupee: 20 Rupees
  • Blue Rupee: 5 Rupees
  • Green Rupee: 1 Rupee
  • Black Rupee (Rupoor): -10 Rupees

There are tons of ways in which players can earn Rupees here or there without sacrificing too much autonomy. Simply put, players can easily take advantage of breaking everything they see, whether it be grass, pots or skulls. There's also the Dowsing technique, which can reveal hidden Rupees as well as Goddess Cubes. Finally, players who already have their hands on the Digging Mitts can take advantage of any soft soil spots they find. These methods won't guarantee large amounts of Rupees early on, though they serve as a great starting point.

A good farming method for Skyward Sword HD players early in the game is catching bugs with the Bug Net and selling them to Strich at the Knight Academy. Players can earn between 1 and 50 Rupees depending on the bug they catch. Below is a quick rundown for each:

  • Deku Hornet: 1 Rupee
  • Blessed Butterfly: 5 Rupees
  • Skyloft Mantis: 10 Rupees
  • Woodland Rhino Beetle: 20 Rupees
  • Volcanic Ladybug: 20 Rupees
  • Sky Stag Beetle: 20 Rupees
  • Lanayru Ant: 20 Rupees
  • Starry Firefly: 30 Rupees
  • Gerudo Dragonfly: 30 Rupees
  • Faron Grasshopper: 40 Rupees
  • Eldin Roller: 40 Rupees
  • Sand Cicada: 50 Rupees

Players can also use the Bug Net to catch birds at Faron Woods and sell Bird Feathers for 20 Rupees each at the Night Market, a.k.a. Rupin's house. If players notice any blue birds nearby, they're in luck, as they can be caught and sold for 100 Rupees. The Night Market is also a great way to sell excess materials, though keep in mind that Rupin only buys four different materials at a time.

That said, once players get a bit further into The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, the previous methods may not cut it. However, another great farm for Rupees revolves around the various minigames in Skyward Sword HD.

First is the secret hidden deep beneath the Eldin Volcano - not The Earth Temple, but rather, the Thrill Digger minigame. It plays a lot like Minesweeper, in that players must dig up Rupees without triggering a bomb. Of course, players will need bombs gain access to the minigame, though players can earn huge amounts of Rupees here. At best, players may even come across a handful of Gold Rupees.

There's also the minigame over on Bamboo Island, the Clean Cut Challenge minigame. Players can only earn 30 Rupees here, but there's also the chance to earn various treasures that can be sold. Endgame players looking for both farming consistency and a challenge might want to consider the Boss Rush mode in the Lightning Round minigame. Players have a shot at earning an overwhelming 9,900 Rupees, though of course, they'll need the Tycoon wallet in addition to all of the wallet upgrades first.
