An official My Hero Academia Movie 3: World Heroes' Mission trailer shows Deku and his friends as the world threatens to come to an end.

During the recent World Fan Event held for My Hero Academia fans, an exciting new film (alongside some other goodies) titled My Hero Academia Movie 3: World Heroes' Mission was announced. With little information released about the film during the event, fans now have a stunning trailer teasing the upcoming movie.

The new My Hero Academia film will mark the third installment of movies in the anime series and currently has a release date of August 6th for Japanese audiences. Unfortunately, an international release date did not come with the new official trailer for the movie. The new trailer highlights all of the fan-favorite characters: Izuku Midoriya (a.k.a. Deku), Katsuki Bakugo, Eijiro Kirishima, and others as they are put up against their toughest challenge yet.

The My Hero Academia Movie 3 trailer begins with a startling newsreel that claims the beloved main character of the series, Izuku, is a mass murder and is currently at large. The rest of the trailer walks through a series of tragic events: poison gas released into public air, mass death, and execution along with other violence. A new cult-like group is shown praising the downfall of those with quirks and the Hero Academy members, who are clearly overworked fighting against the new constant state of chaos. Izuku is shown fighting alongside his other hero friends, who are selected to fight and save the world.

My Hero Academia Movie 3 promises to be the most tragic yet in the franchise, with a doomsday theme. The new film will focus on a new genetic threat to those born with Quirks (a sort of superpower or ability in My Hero Academia lore). A new group called Humarize create the Quirk Singularity Doomsday Theory, which warns that the genetic blending of quirks will eventually lead to the downfall of humanity. This presents a new challenge to the UA Academy, which must now train to fight against this issue for the sake of the entire world.

The My Hero Academia Movie 3 trailer focuses heavily on global matters and also the struggle of what it means to be a hero. Certainly, both of these themes are timely in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Previous installments of My Hero Academia have not been so bleak.

Fans of the series know that Izuku was not born with a quirk but has similar abilities due to an accident, so what does the Quirk Singularity Doomsday Theory mean for him? Will Izuku and his fellow heroes be able to save the world in My Hero Academia Movie 3: World Heroes' Mission?

My Hero Academia Movie 3: World Heroes' Mission will be released in theaters in Japan on August 6, 2021.
