Skyrim Player Goes 1,000 In-Game Days Only Sleeping Once

The Dragonborn from Skyrim is capable of a lot of amazing things, but one player looking through their stats discovers they don't need sleep either.

Skyrim can be as immersive as players want it to be. Hardcore role players might use something like this character planning sheet for Skyrim and then act in accordance to their build, while players more concerned with the gameplay aspects are free to ignore all of the role playing elements. Some dedicated players take this even further, opting to sleep a full eight hours each day and avoiding playing in the night time, but that clearly wasn't the case for Redditor GhostofAshiNa, who instead passed 1000 in game days while only sleeping for a total of one hour. How their Dragonborn stays awake is anyone's guess.

For those that may not have known about this, players can read through a list of different stats associated with their Skyrim character from the pause menu. To do this, pause the game and head over to the "General Stats" tab of the game. It's a long list, so players might need to scroll down for a bit to find what they're looking for.

In a simple post, GhostofAshiNa shared the screenshot of their stats page showing 1000 in game days passed and only one hour of sleep. The caption reads "Seems legit..." and lets the hilarious photo speak for itself. Looking a bit closer, players will notice that this player didn't avoid using the Wait mechanic, as 6,355 of those hours were passed in this way. That's about 264 days of just standing around, or 26.48% of the Dragonborn's life since they left Helgen.

Another player in the comments makes an interesting observation as well, asking whether or not that one hour of sleep was the one required for players to start the Dark Brotherhood quest line. Players are required to sleep in any bed for at least one hour so that the Dark Brotherhood can kidnap them, so it's clear that GhostofAshiNa didn't allow their Dragonborn to sleep for an hour just to be nice. Instead, this dragon slaying adventurer is forced to remain awake indefinitely.

It's worth noting that Skyrim doesn't incentivize sleeping in any meaningful way, and players might be surprised to find that their stats could look somewhat similar. If the player sleeps in a bed for any amount of time, they get two things. First, their health, magicka, and stamina are restored to maximum; second, they gain the well-rested bonus, boosting skill level up rate by 10%. The former of these boosts can be obtained by waiting, and most players don't bother with the latter.

Skyrim is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
