Lost in Random gets a new gameplay trailer at EA Play, confirming its official release date and showing off its card-based combat system.

The next release to sport the EA Originals name, Zoink's Lost in Random was first announced last year, presenting an animated world filled with creepy characters and plenty of Tim Burton-esque visual flair. During today's EA Play broadcast, viewers got a closer look at the game's eccentric world, with a new trailer showing off its combat and confirming an official release date.

Players will be able to get their hands on Lost in Random on September 10, where it will launch on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Its accompanying trailer makes a compelling case for why players should keep an eye on the quirky action platformer going forward, with the game including a unique card-based battle system that will keep combat encounters unpredictable.

As shown through EA's trailer, players will be able to collect coins throughout Lost in Random's world that can be used to purchase cards from a vendor. These cards give protagonist Even the ability to unleash magical powers in combat, allowing her to pause time, summon weapons, lay down bombs, freeze enemies, and much more.

Fights themselves will begin with players using Even's slingshot to knock energy cubes off their opponents, with the power-ups charging her anthropomorphic dice companion, Dicey. Once fully charged, players will be able to roll their ally, with the number he lands on dictating which cards they can use. Landing on low numbers will give players the opportunity to use a common ability, while higher rolls will let them wield the most dangerous attacks in Even's arsenal. The system appears to add an extra layer to Lost in Random's combat, allowing players to invest in a deck of cards that best fits their playstyle.

For those unacquainted with the latest addition to the EA Originals roster, Lost in Random takes place in the titular Kingdom of Random. Players will step into the shoes of Even, a young girl looking to save her sister from the clutches of a mad queen who rules the world with her ominous black dice. Her journey will take her throughout the various realms of the visually distinct kingdom, seeing her befriend a host of zany characters and go head to head with an array of creepy enemies.

Lost in Random has already found its fair share of success since its announcement, becoming an official Tribeca Film Festival selection earlier this year alongside titles like Sable, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, 12 Minutes, and Harold Halibut. It competed for the inaugural Tribeca Games Award, which was eventually won by sci-fi adventure game, Norco.

Lost in Random is slated to launch on September 10 for PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
