GGG launched the Expedition League for Path of Exile, and while the League offers a new mechanic and changes, this is a good time to work on MTX sets.

Grinding Gear Games just launched the new Expedition League for Path of Exile, and so far it seems to have been a quiet and successful launch compared to other rocky experiences with the past few expansions. With the way Path of Exile is designed, Expedition does a great job at shaking the game's meta and player approach to damage and speed from the ground up, and it bodes well for the future of this ARPG and its successor as well, Path of Exile 2. Path of Exile is a game where building a character is no easy feat, and there are a lot of pieces of the puzzle to fit together, as well as trying to balance things in a way that allows the build to both do its job and also survive waves of enemies.

Considering that Expedition changes a lot, Path of Exile just became harder than it has been for quite some time now, with the reduced impact of power creep and much more than just that. Because the game is now slower in pace, it's the perfect moment to not only have a great build to tackle all of the game's content, but also make good-looking characters and use great skill effects to fully enjoy how Path of Exile looks at its best. As such, here is a list of a few sets to try, and some amazing skills to use for the new League.

This look was put together by Reddit user Bondemusen, and it creates intense blue hues combined with gold undertones. As such, this set works best with Lightning skills, minions, any skill with the Stygian effect MTX, and even some of the new skills introduced with Expedition, like Manabond and Absolution. The look is achieved by using the Bane Lich Hood with the Synthesis Crown and Harbinger Eyes for the head, the Wrangler Body Armor for the chest, the Stygian Wings back attachment, and the Master Soulstealer Gloves and Boots, with the latter also sporting Black Footprints to tie in the theme. Then, the weapon is the Revenant Sword with the Sunstone Weapon Effect, and the character effect is Stygian.

Another Redditor by the name of Its_Me_Your_Brother managed to make their Path of Exile Marauder look just like War from Darksiders. This set is a combination of MTXs and skins that might be hard to come by these days, especially for newer players, but the look can be achieved with the following items. Alternate art Heatshiver and Holy Eyes for the head, Chimera Body Armor for the chest piece, Red Hooded Cloak for the back attachment, Demon King Gloves, and Boots, and also the Colossus Sword skin.

The look can further be improved with a footprints effect, a character effect, and also a weapon effect. However, for a more accurate and cleaner cosplay, this combination is perfectly fine as it is. It could work with the new Rage Vortex skill for a nicely themed Berserker build.

YouTuber Nervyr has an interesting show called "Before you buy," and what it does is showcasing new MTX themes, sets, and skill effects, which is particularly useful because GGG still doesn't have a preview mode for its microtransactions. Despite Ultimatum being taken over by Expedition today, the Vaal Orb set is still a great set to run the new League because it is tied to the game's lore and a specific orb as well. This makes the Vaal Orb set a classic regardless of how new it is, and with it being red, there are a lot of options to choose from for great combinations. For example, Nervyr showcased it with the Vaal Orb Void Sphere Effect, which is designed to perfectly fit this set's aesthetics.

Path of Exile Expedition is available now on PC, and it will come to PS4 and Xbox One on July 28.
