The timeline in Pokemon GO is all out of sorts thanks to the sudden appearance of Dialga. This event, titled Ultra Unlock 2021 Time, comes with a variety of benefits and potential rewards for players. In addition to being able to find fossilized Pokemon out in the wild, players can also get an Up-Grade evolution item for free if they complete a specific research task before the event ends. This is particularly useful for players wanting to evolve a Porygon into a Porygon2, a task that many are undertaking since Porygon spawn rates are also up right now.

The Ultra Unlock 2021 Time event runs until August 3rd, and players have until 8:00 PM local time to complete the event specific timed research requests. There are several of these available, each with good rewards to go along with them, but players are most interested in the guaranteed Up-Grade item, as this is difficult to acquire in Pokemon GO under normal circumstances.

The research task in question is part of Ultra Unlock 2021 Time Part 1 Step 4. In order to complete it, players are going to have to catch seven Porygon. While this may seem like a daunting task, the spawn rates for Porygon are much higher during this event than usual. What's more, players are going to need quite a bit of candy in order to level up and evolve their Porygon, so this is helpful in that regard as well. After catching all seven Pokemon, collect the Up-Grade item from the reward for the research task.

This sounds simple enough, but since this timed task is in step 4 of 5, players are going to have to complete all nine research tasks from the prior three steps. The list is as follows:

• Catch 10 Pokemon
• Use 5 berries to help catch Pokemon
• Catch 5 different species of Pokémon

• Catch 5 Voltorb
• Transfer 7 Pokemon
• Send 3 gifts to friends

• Catch 10 Omanyte or Kabuto
• Power up Pokémon 5 times
• Earn 5 hearts with your buddy

After completing all nine of those tasks, players should be able to see and complete the research task to catch seven Porygon.

This method is the only way to guarantee an Up-Grade item at the moment, but players can still acquire them through normal means. Up-Grades can primarily be found by spinning PokeStops or Gyms, but the chance of getting one is very low (about 1%). Players would have to spin a lot of these in order to get one, so it will definitely be easier and possibly even quicker to complete the tasks above, plus they come with useful rewards of their own.
