When a gold medal winner at the Olympics takes the stands to receive her award, she catches the eye of The Witcher gamers with her jewelry.

It appears the tales of The Witcher have even reached the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. During a recent medal ceremony for the three women who finished at the top of the standings in the 10-meter air pistol event, the gold medal winner was spotted wearing an iconic piece of jewelry in what is thought to be the School of the Cat medallion most recently on display in The Witcher 3.

That particular piece of jewelry has long been considered one of the more popular items of iconography from The Witcher franchise. Several characters have been spotted in several of the video games, as well as in The Witcher Netflix series with the medallion around their necks. Those medallions have become rather popular among the fanbase who have bought all different versions of the one that's seen in the games and series. It looks like fans of the franchise can count Vitalina Batsarashkina among their number.

Batsarashkina - representing Russia on Sunday - won her second straight gold medal in the sport shooting event. When she took her place among those who took home the silver and bronze medals, fans of The Witcher soon spotted the medallion around her neck that was unmistakably a piece of jewelry modeled after what has been seen in The Witcher franchise.

Reddit user Costyii_93 was among the first to notice the medallion and post a picture of Batsarashkina wearing the School of the Cat necklace on the social media site. It didn't take long for other users to start celebrating that an Olympian appeared to be among their ranks. Several started posting their favorite lines or comments that were born of The Witcher series of games or the television show.

Some users even started managing to work in one of the more famous games into the jokes. When some Reddit posters started asking about Batsarashkina and what event she had medaled in, there were a few who were honest about her sport. While she actually did win the 10-meter air pistol event several people wondered out loud if she hadn't actually become the Olympic champion of Gwent.

There is a bit of an interesting side note of Batsarashkina's Olympics win. The athlete was not actually a member of the Russian team, as the country has been officially barred from Tokyo because of a doping scandal that erupted several years ago. She officially competed for the ROC, which is the acronym for the Russian Olympic Committee. It's possible she also decided to represent Rivia and The Witcher fanbase when she collected her award.
