There are many fantastic mods for Star Wars Battlefront 2 that makes the game more enjoyable for players that give them a try.

Star Wars: Battlefront II (2017) is a sequel to Electronic Arts' attempt at remaking the beloved Star Wars Battlefront games from over a decade prior. The game was controversial for many reasons, and gamers had several complaints about how the game turned out. Thankfully for PC gamers, they have the means to rectify several features that they felt were either missing or malformed in this Star Wars shooter.

That said, PC gamers are prone to modding the games they like as well, and many of the mods for Battlefront II are a labor of love. Below are ten of the best Star Wars: Battlefront II mods available on popular modding hub, Nexus Mods.

Updated on July 27th, 2021 by Josh Davison: While it seems that EA and Dice are finished adding new features to Star Wars: Battlefront II (2017), that doesn't mean that modders are finished adding their own new elements to this multiplayer videogame. Modders still see plenty of potential in Battlefront II as well as a lot of room for improvement for this sci-fi FPS. As such, there are constantly new mods coming out for this game, and many of them are worth shining a spotlight upon and checking out.

15 John Halo

Have you ever wanted to see John-117 aka the Master Chief from Halo interacting with Star Wars characters? Well, then there's some good news, with the John Halo mod that inserts the Master Chief himself into Battlefront II.

The mod, by FlannelMan98 with help from Tortuga, replaces Finn on the Resistance's team along with all weapons therein. Master Chief sports his Mark VI Mjolnir Powered Assault Armor in this groundbreaking Star Wars appearance.

14 Maul The Mandalore

This mod imagines Darth Maul as the new Mandalore, adorned with the appropriate Beskar armor that is given to a full-fledged member of the Mandalorians. Maul the Mandalore replaces the Old Master skin with a Mandalorian armor design from Kaurizz's art on Instagram.

The mod itself comes from Jrmarte on Nexus Mods and looks downright incredible.

13 2003 General Grievous Audio Overhaul

The 2003 General Grievous Audio Overhaul changes the dialogue lines of General Grievous in Battlefront II with those from Grievous in the 2003 Clone Wars series. It comes from modder IKnightTrooperI.

Many lament the transformation of General Grievous from subtle and terrifying hunter to cackling cartoonish villain between Clone Wars (2003) and Revenge of the Sith, so it's no surprise that a skilled modder took it upon themselves to replace Grievous' over-the-top dialogue in the game and replaced it with lines from the Grievous of a bygone era.

12 IA Asajj Ventress

The IA Asajj Ventress mod brings the titular villain to the battlefront by replacing Iden Versio's Act II Mesh with Ventress herself. The mod was created by Btecmath and Tortuga. Unfortunately, the mod only allows Ventress to use one of her twin curved lightsabers, but it's still an impressive feat on the modders' part.

Ventress is a character that aided Count Dooku throughout the Clone Wars and became a frequent enemy of the Jedi and the Republic. Later in the war, Ventress defected from Dooku and the Separatists, taking her destiny in her own hands.

11 BlueNade's Captain Rex

Captain Rex is among the most popular and beloved of the Clone Army, serving as an ARC Trooper Captain in the 501st Legion. He often found himself working alongside Anakin Skywalker but defected to the Rebellion when Order 66 was issued by Emperor Palpatine.

BlueNade's Captain Rex inserts Captain Rex into Battlefront II by replacing Lando Calrissian's skins. Captain Rex is armed with his trademark DC-17 blaster pistols. This mod was crafted by BlueNade with help from Lego_Lover.

10 No Holograms

This is a seemingly minor modification that is nonetheless popular among players and modders alike. It replaces the default spawn screen from Battlefront II, which uses holograms to represent the character the player is going to spawn as, with a high-fidelity representation of the same character as they will appear on the battlefield.

There are several versions of this mod on Nexus, but this particular version was created and uploaded by user derwangler.

9 Deggial's Jango Fett 2020

This mod effectively introduces the legendary bounty hunter Jango Fett to Battlefront II by adding him as an alternate skin for the pre-existing Boba Fett model of the game. A lot of work was put into this one. Modder Deggial Nox even went as far as changing animations for Jango and adding his trademark blaster pistol into the game to replace Boba's rifle.

The screenshots of this one look downright stunning and show a dedication to recreating the in the world of the newest Battlefront II. Notably, Jango Fett was a playable character in Battlefront II, but even that game replaced Jango's blaster pistols with a different weapon.

8 Ortho's 4k Clone Legions And Clone Commandos

These are actually two mods for Battlefront II focusing on upgrading and altering the appearances of the Clone Trooper models. The first, "4K Clone Legions" is the base mod created by Nexus users Orthohex and Slypear. It enhances the Clone Trooper armor appearance and texture as well as adding skins for famous Clone characters from the movies and shows such as Commander Cody, Gree, Bly, Captain Rex, Fives, and others. The one caveat is that Nexus gives this mod the "adult content" tag for nudity, but it's unclear why this is the case.

The "4K Clone Commandos" mod requires the "4K Clone Legions" mod to function and builds upon it with distinct Clone Commando skins based upon famous Commandos from Star Wars, notably Boss, Sev, Fixer, and Scorch from the Star Wars: Republic Commando game and novels.

7 Sly's Cinematic Lighting Overhaul And Cinematic Firefights III

This is another pair of visual upgrades coming from Nexus user Slyspear. The "Cinematic Lighting Overhaul" bumps up the lighting on all maps to better match the films, greatly improving the visual quality of each locale and making each battle feel just a little grander for the player.

The "Cinematic Firefights III" mod boosts the color and size of the blaster bolts shot from each character's weapon in the game. It also gives many of the blaster bolts a unique shape depending on the weapon that fired them. This one doesn't require the lighting overhaul mod to use, but it is recommended by Slyspear to pair the two.

6 BetterSabers X

This is another aesthetics upgrade that improves the visuals of the lightsabers in Battlefront II. It increases the brightness and spark effects while cutting back on the motion trail left by the blades. It also pays special attention to improving Kylo Ren's lightsaber.

This one comes from Nexus modder Dulana57

5 Darth Malgus

This is another Deggial Nox mod that brings the Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO Sith Lord known as Darth Malgus to the battlefront by replacing Darth Vader's skin with Malgus.

Special attention was paid to this mod as well, making sure the cybernetic parts, cloth textures, and animations are suited to Darth Malgus instead of Vader.

4 The Mandalorian

This mod is a group collaboration between Dulana57, AlexPo21, and a handful of other Nexus Mod users that brings the notorious Mandalorian, Din Djarin, to Star Wars: Battlefront II. This is a wholly unique character with distinct abilities setting him apart from other heroes in the game. This mod replaces the slot previously taken up by Han Solo in the game.

Djarin's powers include the use of his Beskar spear, flamethrower, Whistling Birds, and his pulse rifle. In addition, the pulse rifle is also a power that can be equipped by assault-class characters in the game.

3 AI Arcade Overhaul

This is a comprehensive improvement to the game's AI characters that make for more gameplay customization as well as smarter opponents. Among the improvements include sprinting for the AI enemies, better crash avoidance in dogfights, and the ability for AI to equip any of the starcard upgrades.

It also introduces a 25 vs 25 mode for arcade mode and allows players to customize the full loadout for both players and AI characters. This impressive and thorough arcade upgrade comes to us from Nexus user krazivan777.

2 Splitscreen

This mod is as straightforward as its name suggests; it reintroduces split-screen mode to the PC version of Battlefront II. Despite being a function in the console ports of the game, it's not actually an option in the PC iteration of the title. However, Nexus mod users Otherbenji and CadeVsGaming have rectified this omission.

Playing split-screen with your friends was a beloved feature of the original Battlefront releases, and many players understandably want it back with the newer games. Thanks to these two modders, you can have splitscreen again.

1 Instant Action Improvements

Finally, we have the Instant Action Improvements mod, which is a vast and comprehensive upgrade to the Instant Action system in Star Wars: Battlefront II from users Mophead and Cade as well as a slew of other modders.

This is a massive mod project that tackles everything from visuals to skins gameplay mechanics to menu reordering to even additional classes usable in the game. This is a beast of a mod that immensely supes up your Battlefront II experience and shows an impressive amount of passion and hard work from the development team.
