After streaming Fortnite for only 2 days in July, Ninja's viewership on Twitch drops by 50% while he continues to play Final Fantasy 11 instead.

Twitch has changed a lot since the days when Fortnite and Ninja were synonymous with the platform. These days other high-profile Battle Royale games such as Apex Legends and Call of Duty: Warzone are vying for attention in the genre. Along with these games, other streamers have surged to the top of Twitch's viewership. Amongst this tough competition for popularity on the platform, it was revealed that Ninja has lost 50% of his viewership in the last month.

There appears to be a correlation between the popularity of Ninja's livestreams and games he chooses to play. The famous streamer's average viewership during the month of July 2021 has dipped to 3,600. However, his most successful streams came when playing Fortnite, as he managed to raise his average view count to over 10,000 the two times he booted up the Battle Royale. Interestingly, Ninja has played the almost 20 year old Final Fantasy 11 more than any other game in July with 70 hours streamed. During his time playing the MMORPG, he only managed to pull in an average of around 2,000 views.

While many streamers would gladly take 3,600 average viewers over a given month, this number pales in comparison to the viewership that Ninja once garnered. During his prime, he gathered on average over 100,000 viewers and broke numerous records like when he played Fortnite with Drake. He even managed to grow his subscriber total to 250,000, the largest seen on the platform.

Despite seeing a drastic 50% reduction in viewership in the last month, Ninja's numbers have been declining on Twitch for quite a while. In a report revealing the top 10 streamers on Twitch, Ninja was absent from the list, while popular gamers like Shroud, XQC, NICKMERCS, and summit1g all managed to crack the top 10. At one time, he was the most popular person on the platform.

Beyond this staunch competition within Twitch, there is now even more challengers coming from alternative streaming platforms such as YouTube Gaming. Ninja even left Twitch to pursue a deal with Mixer, Microsoft's ill-fated livestreaming platform, back in 2019. He lost a large percentage of his views as not all his fans followed him over to the new platform. Once he returned to Twitch the following year, his numbers never fully recovered to the lofty heights where they once were.

It will be interesting to see where the streamer goes from here. Even though his Fortnite livestreams continue to attract a relatively large audience, Ninja seems to not enjoy Fortnite like he once did. Time will tell if he can manage to disconnect from the game that made him famous and develop a new strategy to increases his number of viewers.
