The Pokemon series is no stranger to incredible pieces of merchandise produced over the years. Some of these are standard, like plushies and accessories, to the more strangely or hilariously designed ones, like a pillow based off of the butt of Yamper from Pokemon Shield and Sword. As the Pokemon Company loves to create merchandise that is based off of various different objects from its universe, this latest one might be one of the craziest. The company will be releasing a real-life bike based on the one from Pokemon Red and Blue, but it comes with a slight twist if a fan wants to own it for themselves.
The bike from the Pokemon series is a recurring key item that is used as a method of travelling the world faster. These are obtained from a Bicycle Shop in Pokemon Red and Blue's Cerulean City. Some places are only able to be traveled by biking, such as Cycling Road. The bike can be bought for one million Pokemon dollars, which is impossible to obtain in-game. The only way for players to obtain this key item is to redeem a bike voucher in order to get it. With such an expensive price tag for the in-game object, the same is applied to its real life counterpart, with a slightly different method to get one.

In celebration of the Pokemon Information Bureau Twitter account (@poke_times) reaching one million followers, the company unveiled a brand new bike. The bike itself is based on various different assets and illustrations from Pokemon Red and Blue, with a green frame and yellow rims. There are also other details that make this feel like it came straight from the games, such as silhouettes of various Pokemon from Generation 1 on the inside of the rim, or the tire treads having different Poke Ball patterns printed. The Poke Ball aesthetic is kept on other parts of the bike, such as the handlebars.
While the bike is beautiful to look at, the twist is that fans can't actually buy this bike. Much like the Pokemon games, there is only one of these bikes that is available to own, and the only way to obtain it is by performing a specific task. This task is to follow the Pokemon Information Bureau Twitter account (@poke_times) and send out a tweet containing the hashtag #ポケモンの100万円じてんしゃ (which translates to "Pokemon 1 million-yen bicycle") before the end of August 3. In mid-August, a random winner will be selected to obtain this incredible prize.
The momentum of the Pokemon series cannot be stopped. The popularity has exploded in the past 25 years, with new merchandise like this still being produced to a live-action Pokemon Netflix series being announced. Even through the bumps, fans still love Pokemon and whatever the Pokemon Company produces.
